Sound Journeys for Deep Rest

Sound Journeys for Deep Rest Immersive sessions blending yoga nidra, Himalayan brass bowls, gong, shruti & voice—for clarity, presence, and a felt sense of renewal. Hi, I’m Colleen.

I’m Canadian, currently living in Chiang Mai, and—depending on the day—you’ll find me hiking, writing, singing, cycling, or offering sound journeys and yoga nidra sessions to those who need a bit of peace. I’ve trained in a handful of supportive practices over the years, including:
– Thai Massage (2016)
– Hatha Yoga (Rishikesh, 2017)
– Yoga Nidra (UK & Thailand, 2020–2023)
– Reiki Master Level (2020)
– Sound Healing Arts (Nepal, 2025)
– Death Doula Training (INELDA, 2024)

I also hold an MA from Toronto Metropolitan University, but most of my heart lives far outside the classroom. I first fell in love with Himalayan bowls during Chiang Mai’s burning season, when I took refuge in Nepal and discovered their grounding resonance firsthand (read about it here: https://colleenthornton.com/2025/05/26/open-to-more/). Since then, offering sound and rest practices has become one of my favourite ways to share time and space with others—gentle, meaningful, and never too serious.

INTRODUCING BLACK CROW 🐦‍⬛

I am crossing a threshold into something both new & familiar and would love to have your support.

You follow this page, which means you have been touched by the power of sound bowls—as a musical art, a healing modality, or a beautiful meditation companion.

I am expanding my sound learning journey alongside starting a small collection of carefully selected bowls to connect more people with the power and beauty and joy of sound—a venture I've named Black Crow.

If you're curious, I invite you to follow along with me on this journey on Instagram (.sound).

Thank you so much... I hope to see you there ❤️

Curious about the bowls but not quite ready for a full training?

Come spend a relaxed 90 minutes at Attika Studio exploring brass sound bowls in a playful, hands-on way. Learn how to gently strike and rim them, experiment with using them on the body, and see what sounds (and sensations) you can create.

No formal teaching. No pressure. Just space to try, listen, feel, and have fun.

Open to complete beginners and the simply curious.

Donation-based — give what feels right.

Stay after for coffee and snacks at Attika ☕✨

Come play.

Finally made it to Agape Home to deliver a donation of 5720 THB—the total amount given by people who joined our Christmas Day sound bath. We didn't get to see the kids since they were napping, but I'll definitely be back to visit during playtime 🥰

Thank you to Alan Strydom, Attika Studio, and everyone who contributed:

✨Sound & Support for Kids this Christmas✨
A Special Sound Journey this Thursday, Dec. 25th

The holiday season—a time that can feel both full and fragile—is a wonderful time to reconnect yourself.

It is also beautiful time to extend that care outwards to the community, to support people with needs that many of us will never know, and to honour the incredible work of so many open-hearted people.

That's why, in partnership with Attika Studio, we've chosen to hold this week's sound journey to support the children at Agape Home Thailand—an organization that provides love, care, and stability to children living with HIV & AIDS.

100% of the proceeds (and any additional donations) will go directly to Agape.

Watch the story of Agape to learn more (below), and come and join us this Thursday at Attika Studio for a nourishing sound journey.

DM to book your spot!

DETAILS:
Thursday, Dec. 25th 1:30 & 3:00
(each session is 1 hour)
Attika Studio & Cafe on Thapae Road

Donation: 300+ Baht (please give what you can!)

Would love to see you at attika studio tomorrow for a restful and restorative sound journey 🙌

If you've been having some restless days or nights with the buzz of the holidays, this is a wonderful way to nourish the body and quiet the mind. Relaxing into that liminal space has so many benefits, which in my personal experience, include a better night's sleep 😴

These sessions begin with a short yoga nidra, and continue for an hour through a mixed soundscape of brass bowls, gong, voice, and gorgeous hand pan (see poster for more details).

We have a few spaces still available in both sessions. DM me or contact Attika to save a spot 🙏🥰

99 followers woohoo! 🥳 THANK YOU! 🙏 Happy to be connecting with so many cool people through sharing these journeys! And I deeply appreciate when people share their experience with me and others 🥰

It's our second week back with the bowls, and yesterday's sessions were so lovely and nourishing. There was a beautiful warm hum felt throughout the afternoon 🙌

A long, lingering pause at the close of the journey (as seen in the video, which I captured a few minutes after I chimed "the end" bell) shows just how restorative they can be, how much our bodies need deep rest. And—maybe my favourite part—how wonderful it is to drop into this state in community. It takes a good deal of trust and openness, which is tall order these days! 😅

Also, I really just love singing people to sleep 😆

Thank you to everyone who is a part of the community. Hugs to all! 🤗
