Fitness Journey
Frequently asked questions and straight hard truths.
Q: What is the quickest way to gain muscles/lose weight?
A: There isn't a quick way that is healthy and sustainable. Your body will reflect the things you do and the food you put in consistently, and that takes time. Remember that it is a marathon and not a sprint.
Q: How long will it take?
A: Progress takes time and it isn't linear. It is very different for everybody depending on body types, genetics and lifestyle. Simply put, how long did it take to have your current body? To transform your body from what it is used to will take effort and time, there are no shortcuts. What IS most important is having a plan and staying consistent with your activities and diet. Pace yourself slowly and surely you will get there.
Q: Which exercise program is the best?
A: Start with the basics functional exercises , push ups, chin ups, squats, and dips. Learn to master them then add more advanced compound exercises once you have a better understanding on how to engage your body efficiently and effectively. Working out isn't rocket science, you don't need fancy looking exercises to achieve your goals. Most of what you see on social media aren't even beneficial, you don't need to reinvent the wheel, stick to the basics and you can't go wrong.
Q: Which diet is the best?
A: Realistic, sustainable, and enjoyable. Short term diets lead to short term results or worse. Putting your body through ups & downs destroys your metabolism.
If you deprived yourself from specific foods that you enjoy for weight loss, guess what? You will constantly think about those foods. If I tell you to not think of an elephant, what are you thinking of right now?
Pressuring yourself to reach your goals is a set up for failure. Prioritize protein, eat a well balanced diet, and set up a portion control for your guilty pleasures to form a better relationship with food.
You need to be realistic about your lifestyle, forming a plan that you are happy with is the key in maintaining your diet goals. Eat to fuel your body & soul, and not to feed your emotions.
