Who, where and what we surround ourselves with has a significant influence. Whether we notice it or not, the effect can be deeply beneficial or highly restrictive. The people we hang out with, the places where we spend our time and the messages we hear/read/pay attention to/expose ourselves to... they are absorbed and reflected in our thoughts and behaviours.

The cool thing is, is that for the most part, we can control this.

We can seek out the environment we need to help us achieve our desired state, intentions, goals and dreams. Whether it's in the form of a group, gym, cafe, park, activity, art, a headspace or a just quote we love stuck to the bathroom mirror... when we surround ourselves with what inspires and encourages, not only ourselves, but everyone, is lifted higher.

It is not until we are aware of something that we can actually take the steps to alter it. We have had many clients in the past who feel that they perform certain behaviours because they have little will power, or are not strong enough. This is absolutely not correct. Generally, there was some underlying cause driving the behaviours. Something that created discomfort or unease and was negated by a comforting behaviour.
Night-time snacking is a common example. We are not hungry as such, but maybe we are stressed, bored, lonely or anxious, and it is these feelings that are driving us to find comfort in food? It temporarily diminishes the discomfort, but unfortunately, until we become aware of the real driver, the cycle continues.

So maybe take a moment the next time you feel yourself reaching for a comfort behaviour. Become aware of what you are feeling in that exact moment. Once you isolate it, maybe there is another behaviour/response that can help you better understand and manage the real driver? Maybe that moment can provide you with the chance to step into a new cycle of wellbeing?

We often forget that in the pursuit of giving our all to be the best partner, parent or friend, that we need to replenish good energy in order to continually give it. By caring for our own wellbeing, we can ensure that the energy we provide is that which can fully love, help and nuture those around us. Selfcare is not selfish, it is necessary.

WE also consider sunshine, coconut water and a comfy banana lounge somewhat necessary as well :) When city iso-life is over and a wellbeing recharge is due, give us a hoy! WE will be ready to roll with an awesome program, delicious food and amazing weather ☀️🥑🌊🧘‍♀️🤍 A perfect, and necessary, wellbeing getaway :)

WE were very lucky to have an amazing group of ladies stay with us prior to xmas. They took 80's Aquafit to the next level, and reminded us of some things that truly matter:

1) Don't take yourself too seriously,
2) Laugh loud and laugh often,
3) Make movement fun and enjoyable.

Our mind controls how we perceive, process and respond to the outside world. And through our breath, we can bring control and calm to our mind.
Uncertainty does not throw us into the fire.
We are the fire.
Breathing in through the nose and allowing a long, slow exhale out through the nose, is a super simple and convenient way to bring calm to a rising fire.
During what may be an uncertain holiday period for many of us, WE hope that some space to breathe may provide some peace, rest and calm.
Especially during the 5am bonfire that ol' Santa Claus is about to drop on Christmas morning... :)

This year has certainly taught us that not all treasures are silver and gold. Maybe it has shown us that the real treasure lies in having good health, and a strong connection with others and ourselves?
