Like Yuhself - Youth Health looks at the ability of children to develop into adults with the capacity to achieve optimal development and who contribute productively to society is influenced by several determinants, including education, health and socio-economic factors such as culture, poverty and the like. The Adolescent and Youth population groups are two important target populations for implementing Health Education programs. The Health Education Division in implementing this mandate implements a series of programs targeting children and youth including; School Health Education Programs; Youth Health Education and Empowerment programs. Program implemented in the past included:
• Project Lifestyle which targeted school aged children and promoted healthy lifestyle practices
• Youth Empowerment Program and the Youth Forum: these initiatives utilised a workshop format and engaged adolescents and youths in community settings to address issues relating to managing sexuality, drug abuse prevention, mental wellness and life skills, and healthy lifestyles, personal and career development
• School Health Caravan- School based health education programs addressing content contained in the Health and family Life Education Program
• The RAP Program – facilitating education on HIV/AIDS prevention and managing self and sexuality. Program designed by the Director Health Education Division and implemented by the Rapport Peer Educators
• The Like Yuhself Youth Health Education and Empowerment program
