What is ‘Anugraha’? You may be wondering what ‘Anugraha’ means. This is a Sanskrit word with many meanings but the words which speak to me the most are ‘grace’ and ‘support’. Anugraha is that grace which is achieved through our own experiences; which supports us as we move through our everyday lives. At Anugraha Yoga we create the space for your experiences to happen.

"Gathering—the conscious bringing together of people for a reason—shapes the way we think, feel, and make sense of our world", in the introduction to her book, The Art of Gatheing.

This is the book I took with me to 's November meetup. A book I reread when thinking about new projects and gatherings.

I thought it appropriate for day 16's prompt of 's challenge because it helps me prepare for gathering persons in community, and gives me the space to explore why and how best I can bring the ideas in my head into being.

As a yoga instructor, and a facilitator of workshops and retreats, it builds on the training and experiences I already have and allows me to create better experiences for those around me.

It's a book I recommend for everyone who is a teacher, an instructor, a facilitator, a family member who organises events, a friend who pulls the friend group together, and anyone who may just have an interest in gathering.

Share with me a book that has made you think 📖 and why it's the one you're sharing 😊

Once upon a time a journalist was writing an article about me and asked for a memory of my early practice and what inspired me to become a yoga instructor.

I shared that in my teens and early 20s we would go to the Temple in the Sea to chant the Guru Gita with . We would begin before sunrise, and end in the early morning. I remember waking up early, the drive to get there, the quiet and the coolness of the morning, the chanting of the group, and the community after. Discipline and devotion, and a wonderful way to start the day and the week.

It was a time in my life that I treasure, and a time that has past. A memory - which is not what the journalist wrote but oh well. I still go to for Guru Gita, either attending in person at their centre in Claxton Bay or online (because this is a possibility now).

In the second photo, I share myself as a teenager (in 1995). My mom was putting together Blue Star's monthly newsletter and needed photos of the twist we were sharing. This is one of them.

Favourite memories are made of ordinary, everyday moments. I am thankful for each moment that I can be present for, for the people around me, and the spaces I choose to inhabit.

Today for day 15 of @'s challenge, share with us a favourite memory ✨

Day 14 of 's challenge invites us to take some time and consider what we've accomplished. A small choice or a big action... What are you feeling proud of today?

This is not something I often ask myself. I think that this is the beauty of participating in these kinds of activities... The prompts encourage us to reflect on things that we don't usually consider.

I am proud of my commitment to building community, to creating opportunities for persons to come together, and to nourishing spaces and communities that already exist.

In this time that we are in, community is so very important. It is important for us to be acknowledged, to know that we are not alone in our struggles, to receive support and guidance. Every day I take time to consider how this can be done and I'm proud of the work that I've done thus far.

What are you proud of today?

November 13th is observed as World Kindness Day and, for 's challenge, the prompt is 'an act of true kindness'.

There is so much going on in the world that kindness is definitely needed. What does being kind mean to you? What words or feelings come to you when you think of kindness?

For me there is a softness, a gentle space of ease, of comfort and care.

Today, I invite you to reflect on acts of kindness - whether you have been on the receiving or giving end.

How will you be kind to yourself? How will you be kind to those around you?

What (or who) uplifts you is the prompt for day 12 of 's challenge.

Nature, with all of its beauty and energy, lifts my spirits on a daily basis. There is much research now about the healing power of being in nature - amongst trees or bodies of water, about the effect of listening to the birds, and learning to work with the cycles of nature. Have you observed any effects of being in nature?

In thinking about today's prompt I also thought about my Guru who is teacher, guide, and friend. Through his teachings, I aspire to become the most authentic version of myself. Who lifts your spirits? Who do you learn from or who do you enjoy spending time with?

Yesterday's prompt for day 11 of 's challenge was "A time you were fearless"... I had to ask myself if there has ever been such a time.

When there are difficult moments, scary moments, moments that I am uncomfortable with... I take a breath and respond in the best way that I can.

Is that fearlessness? I'm unsure.

I have travelled to different countries, spoken in front of large gatherings, climbed up tall places, been at the bedside of the dying, and have had so many more experiences where the emotions and situations were difficult and, I suppose, where a measure of fearlessness was required just to be present.

Perhaps there is the answer. I give thanks for my breath, and for the practices and principles that allow me to be present.

Do you have a time when you were fearless? What do you think about fearlessness?

An easy prompt for day 10 of 's .

A blessing as today I am a bit worn out from the weekend.

This is one of my favourite animals, this one makes me smile and has had my heart since 2011.

Here's to all the animals who fill out lives with love.

Today invites us to reflect on the power and joy of friendship, to observe the positive impacts of friendship on our lives, and to celebrate our friends.

I have been fortunate to be blessed with many friends that I've met through different phases of my life. In this photo, for today's prompt on day 9 of , are two of my friends - my sibling Ved (I've been friends with him since he was 2 years old) and Sridevi () who I've known since we were both young girls.

It has been a joy to see them both grow from strength to strength, and I look forward to working with them on upcoming projects.

This December we are collaborating on a one-day Teen Wellness Program focused on Overcoming Anxiety for Success. See the flyer for info and message me if you'd like even more information.

Today, was the final day of fall edition of Rise & Write: Harvest & Grief - a 7-day writing lounge that I have been a part of. We've taken time to greet each other, to settle self, and to write and reflect on our writings.

Later, my partner and I went over to .leaf.market, a thrift and artisan market, to set up our table of things that we've crafted.

At the market I facilitated an hour-long mindful crafting session where we collaged Christmas cards together.

These are all activities that I enjoy doing: reading and writing, creating and teaching. Today's prompt for day 8 of 's challenge invites us to reflect on the activities we enjoy, and to appreciate the fun we have while filling them.

I am grateful that I can make the time to do these activities, that I have been given a solid foundation, and that I can also pass along what I have learnt.

What activities do you have fun doing?

Day 7 of 's challenge focuses on celebrating the songs we love to listen to, and those that make those songs exist.

As we head towards year end I find myself embracing silence a bit more and so, currently the songs I love to listen to are brought to me by nature - birdsong, breezy winds in the trees, waves meeting the shore, and the moon and stars at night.

When I am in the process of crafting and making, as I have been doing in preparation for tomorrow's .leaf.market, I listen to mantras, to kirtan, and uplifting music... I believe the energy of those, the good vibes that are created through their sounds, and how I feel in response imbued whatever I'm creating with good vibes as well.

Apart from that I've recently learned, thanks to , that a genre I love is called "pop punk". Take that as you will ✨

What songs do you love to listen to? What songs are you happy to hear?

Day 6 of and we are invited to reflect on our favourite season and what we love about it.

Here in T&T we have dry season and rainy season, mango season and pommerac season and much more...

I'll share about my favourite time of year instead. This period from Divali through to Christmas - both have their festivities, their sacredness. I love that it's a time when friends and family gather, I love the food, and the joy of this time.

Perhaps I am a Trini and so I like both a lime and my belly. Connection, community, contentment.

What's your favourite time of year? Why? How does it inspire gratitude in your space?

Happy full moon! It's day 5 of 's challenge and our prompt is "what you find comforting".

For some reason this brings to mind the song "My Favourite Things" from the musical, The Sound of Music". Perhaps it is because our favourite things are a comfort to us?

These days I find the most comfort in a cup of tea, quiet moments with family and friends, early mornings full of birdsong, favourite books, inspired crafting sessions, and the grace I find through my practice.

What do you find comforting today?
