We should never wait until "vacation time" to relax. We should always find at least one moment during to the day to RELAX, and BE EXCITED ABOUT IT!
If you want or need to relax. Really relax. **Here's a tip**: before you do whatever activity you are choosing to do to relax, take 2 to 5 minutes to orient yourself to your relax time. FOR EXAMPLE: If I want to spend my evening watching Netflix, I am going to take a moment to PAUSE, breathe deeply, make myself super comfy, and tell myself, "For the rest of the evening, I am going to watch netflix and truly relax. Oooo I'm so excited 🤩 I am going to enjoy it, and it is going to bring me so much happiness!!"
~Yes, you are going to be making a big deal out of it.~
But make it real. If you decide to take a NAP for your relaxation, same thing, "Oh boy! Oh boy!!! I am going to relax for 30 minutes and take a delicious well deserved nap 😍"
By affirming these things to yourself, you are letting your mind know, hey, let's take a break. Just think of it this way, if you decide to relax and stress during the relaxation time, THEN you are wasting time. So, don't waste time. Relax properly!

Triggers are things that stimulate an emotional, physical, or behavioural response in us. There can be positive triggers (hello ASMR fans), but this post focuses on triggers that create unwanted responses.

Why is it important to understand our harmful triggers? Because knowledge and preparation provides control over our reactions.

There are many things that we cannot control in our environment. But with understanding ourselves deeply, we can manage what happens internally and work to maintain our mentalhealth and wellbeing

Once you understand your triggers, you can then manage it a little more objectively and understand what copingskills you may need to practice.

Mental health applies to every single one of us. It is health of your brain and your mind! I would say that is pretty important. People work too much on the physical, and while this is very important, let me paint you a picture: you can survive most physical damages. But remove the brain, the heart, or the lungs...you die immediately. These things are life. So take care of your mental health, your emotions, and pay more attention to your breathing!
These are things we need to continuously work on to better serve our purpose in this world. In any job you are in, any role you play in your family, any role you play in your community - the only way you are going to effectively serve your purpose is if you are well.
Make taking care of mental health a necessity. I believe there will be so much less damage in this world if mental health was a priority in every occupation, every school, and every household.

Today, I invite you to go on your phone's calendar, and find 3 separate times this week (I chose today at 3pm, Wednesday at 8am, and Friday at 7pm) and create 3 reminders.

Label these reminders as "check-ins" (or something that feels right to you).

We are going to pause and check in with ourselves in these moments with questions like: How is my body feeling right now? Are there any tense areas? Or am I feeling really loosey goosey relaxed? Am I paying attention to what I'm doing or lost in thoughts?

So together, let's explore our bodies' "clues" that tell us what we might need in a moment

True confidence comes from authenticity. This means showing up as yourself.
It’s not always about being the loudest or flashiest person in the room, but about being grounded in who you are.
When you show up as yourself with compassion, clarity, and self-trust, you allow your real self to shine.
Don’t ever shrink to fit someone else’s expectations. Your are enough.

What are Somatic Exercises and how can they help you?
Somatic exercises focus on the mind-body connection, helping you become more aware of physical sensations and how they connect to emotions, stress, behaviours, and thought patterns. These exercises involve gentle movements, breathing techniques, and body awareness practices to release emotions stored in the body.

How can they help you?
Somatic exercises can help with symptoms like anxiety, trauma, stress, and depression by promoting mind-body awareness, self-soothing, relaxation, emotional regulation, and grounding. It empowers you to process emotions and how they present themselves throughout the body, reducing the impact of difficult emotional responses which can improve overall mental health and well-being.

We can all fall into the trap of self-blame sometimes, but embracing responsibility can lead to personal growth and healing.
Let's take a look at the differences between self-blame and responsibility and how that shift in mindset can lead to significant growth.
🌱 Remember, it's about progress, not perfection.

If you feel overwhelmed, sad, angry, frustrated, tired, demotivated, lonely, or any other difficult emotion, learning how to check in with yourself is a valuable skill that helps you gain back control.
Checking in is a conscious effort of coming back to the present and allowing self-compassion and understanding instead of judgment and disconnect.
Try if the next time you feel any uncomfortable or difficult emotions.

I believe forgiving ourselves is one of the hardest things we ever have to do. And it's something we have to do probably multiple times a day.
This is not to say we are constantly doing something wrong. This has to do with that inner critic, feeling shame, guilt, overwhelm... And, it has to do with having compassion towards yourself, allowing space for yourself to feel what you need to feel.
Forgive yourself each moment you step away from love for yourself. Forgive yourself for each time you've called yourself stupid, worthless, or felt any less than the amazing being you are. Forgive yourself any moment you need to. ❤️SB

Finding motivation can be hard. Tip I love: reframing the way you see a difficult (or boring or anxiety-inducing or scary) task can help. Especially when you remind yourself of the reasons behind the task, your WHY.
For example: "I have to write this paper." "I have to prepare for this presentation." "I have to exercise." "I have to eat healthy." These statements create a task that feels out of our control which can then lead to procrastination and decrease in motivation.
"I choose to write this paper." "I choose to prepare for this presentation." "I choose to exercise." "I choose to eat healthy." These statements place the task back into our control, connecting us with purpose/meaning, and naturally can remind us of the "why" behind the task.
