MARCH training is a critical, trauma-focused, 5-step protocol designed to treat the most life-threatening injuries first during emergency, tactical, or battlefield situations. It stands for:

Massive Hemorrhage: Control bleeding, often via tourniquets.⛑️

Airway: Ensure a clear, open airway.

Respiration: Address chest wounds/breathing.

Circulation: Manage shock and pulse.

Hypothermia/Head: Prevent heat loss and assess head injuries. ⛑️

EYE INJURIES⛑️

Eye injury first aid πŸ‘οΈ
If an object enters the eye:
❌ Don’t rub
❌ Don’t pull it out
βœ… Cover and go to the clinic fast

β€’For eye injuries, immediate action is crucial: do not rub or apply pressure to the eye, do not attempt to remove embedded objects, and seek urgent medical attention for any significant trauma. Rinse chemical burns with water for 15-20 minutes, apply cold compresses for blunt hits (black eyes), and protect cut/penetrating injuries with a rigid shield (e.g., a paper cup) without touching the eyeball. ⛑️

Teacher first aid training week focuses on equipping educators with essential skills to handle school-based emergencies, covering CPR, AED usage, choking, and treating common injuries like cuts, burns, and allergic reactions. These courses, often held as INSET days, enhance safety, build confidence, and ensure compliance with regulations. πŸš‘β›‘οΈ

Key Components of Teacher First Aid Training:πŸš‘

Child-Specific CPR & AED: Specialized training for CPR and AED use on children and infants. πŸš‘

Medical Emergencies: Managing asthma attacks, severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis), and seizures.πŸš‘

Injury Management: Handling bleeding, fractures, head injuries, and, specifically for early years, diarrhea treatment.πŸš‘

Action Planning: Training on when to call emergency services and how to administer medications. πŸš‘

For suspected fractures, keep the person still, stop any bleeding by applying pressure around the wound (not on exposed bone), and immobilize the injured area using a splint or padding above and below the site. Apply ice packs wrapped in cloth to reduce swelling and treat for shock. Call emergency services immediately, especially for head, neck, or back ⛑️

Immediate Action Steps (First Aid)

β€’ Do Not Move the Person: Avoid moving them unless necessary to prevent further, severe injury, particularly with suspected spinal fractures.

β€’ Stop Bleeding: Apply direct pressure to wounds with a sterile bandage or clean cloth. Do not press on a bone that is protruding.

β€’ Immobilize (Splinting): Keep the limb in the position found to minimize movement. Use rigid items (wood, rolled magazines) padded with cloth, secured above and below the joint, to create a splint.

β€’ Apply Cold Packs: Use ice packs wrapped in a cloth to reduce pain and swelling, applied for at least 10 minutes.

β€’ Treat for Shock: If the person feels faint or has rapid, shallow breathing, lay them down with their head slightly lower than their torso and elevate legs if possible.
