Can success be possible with very low AMH? | Part 3 |

Yes, success is possible.
Our goal is always to do everything we can to obtain the maximum number of eggs and give each patient the best possible chance β€” even if there are only one or two oocytes.

However, success depends not only on quantity, but also on quality.
And egg quality is closely related to age.

If AMH levels are low but a woman is still of younger reproductive age β€” for example, before 38–40 years β€” the chances of pregnancy can still be quite good.
But when low ovarian reserve is combined with age 42–43 or older, the outcomes are, in most cases, significantly lower.

Every case is individual, and proper medical evaluation is essential to determine the best strategy.

Part 2

Of course, it’s important to understand that AMH level does not determine the quality of eggs. Egg quality is primarily related to age.

After the age of 36, in most cases, we observe a decline in oocyte quality. However, this is very individual β€” sometimes women at 40 have good-quality eggs, while in other cases, quality may already be reduced at 37.

When AMH levels are extremely low (for example, close to 0.0 ng/ml), it often means that we may retrieve only one egg β€” or sometimes none at all. In such cases, egg quality is also more likely to be compromised, as the maturation process can be affected.

Is egg donation safe?

Yes β€” egg donation is a well-studied and medically supervised procedure performed safely for thousands of women worldwide every year.

Before becoming a donor, a woman undergoes a full medical evaluation. Throughout the process, doctors carefully monitor the body β€” especially the ovaries β€” using ultrasound and blood tests.

The egg retrieval itself is a short procedure, performed under light anesthesia, and usually takes just 10–20 minutes.

What about risks?
Most donors may experience mild, temporary symptoms such as lower abdominal discomfort, similar to menstrual cramps. Hormonal side effects are rare and closely monitored by doctors at every stage.

Serious complications are extremely uncommon.

With proper medical supervision, egg donation is considered a safe and controlled process.

Can success be possible with very low AMH?

AMH (Anti-MΓΌllerian Hormone) is one of the indicators used to evaluate ovarian reserve, but its interpretation always depends on a woman’s age. There is no single β€œnormal” AMH level for everyone.

For example, an AMH level of 0.3 ng/ml may be relatively expected for a 43-year-old woman, while the same level in a 27-year-old would indicate a significantly reduced ovarian reserve.

In reproductive medicine, AMH helps doctors estimate how many eggs may potentially be obtained during an IVF cycle. On average, when AMH is around 1 ng/ml, doctors may expect approximately 8–12 oocytes during egg retrieval.

However, every case is individual, and AMH alone does not determine the final chances of success. Consultation with a fertility specialist is always essential for an accurate assessment.

Women inspire.
They create.
They work.
They love.
They lead.
And every day they change the world β€” sometimes quietly, sometimes boldly, but always powerfully.

Women build careers and open new opportunities.
They support others in difficult moments.
They dream and turn those dreams into reality.
They choose their own path β€” with courage and awareness.

And among all these roles, there is one essential right β€” the right to choose.
When to become a mother.
Whether to become a mother at all.
How to build their life and their future.

Modern medicine gives women more possibilities for that choice β€” to understand their bodies, take care of their reproductive health, and plan motherhood when the time feels right.

At IVMED, we see every day how strong, wise, and inspiring women truly are.

And we deeply admire each of you.

Vitrification is an advanced ultra-rapid freezing technique that protects the oocyte from ice-crystal damage.

This process preserves the cell’s structure and function far better than older slow-freezing methods β€” resulting in over 90% oocyte survival after thawing.
