OPHARNSLIGHT HOUSE Children of Uganda is a Christian-based ministry whose mission and mandate is to secure the life of Ugandan children through education for orphans, empowerment for widows, education and prevention of HIV/AIDS, income generating activities, evangelism, and church in order to meet the physical, spiritual and emotional needs to orphans and widows facing welfare problems and HIV/AIDS. Our aim is to reach all kinds and depths of people who are afflicted, infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in both rural and urban communities through various means, especially the teaching of the love and virtue of Jesus Christ. OPHARNSLIGHT Children of Uganda is an independent non-profit indigenous Christian-based charitable organization. The organization was started in 2011, in efforts to stop the tide of orphaning and the spread of HIV/AIDS, which are two factors that OPHARNSLIGHT HOUSE members frequently seek prayer and counseling for. The need for services has been growing at a speed so terrific that the intended boundaries of OPHARNSLIGHT HOUSE-Uganda have been outstripped by the high demand of physical, financial and personal resources. Because of the endless spreading of AIDS and increasing abject poverty, OPHARNSLIGHT HOUSE-Uganda will be upgraded from a small community based organization to a non-governmental organization. By the years to come,OPHARNSLIGHT HOUSE-Uganda will be a fully fledged independent organization with headquarters in IGANGA , located in Eastern Uganda about two hours away from the capital, Kampala, Uganda.and with its head office in IGANGA town

Priority Area That Needs Funding In Short Term
In our struggle against HIV/AIDS, we have found that empowerment of the widows in fight against poverty needs immediate attention. We discovered that poverty is high speed vehicle increasing the rate of transmission of AIDS. Widows and orphans are highly vulnerable to HIV/AIDS especially if they can not meet their basic needs. i.e food, education and medical care. They are therefore vulnerable to sexual exploitation.
