THE COMMON MISTAKES IN EAR NOSE AND THROAT HEALTH.
This week let's look at "WAX IN THE EARS

"Wax is a brown greasy substance made in the deep part of the ear canal by the Ceruminous glands. Its also called Cerumen. It slowly migrates from the deep part of the ear canal until it comes out. The wax has chemicals that resist micro organism to keep the ears healthy.

The common mistake is to think that wax is DIRT. People take time to clean out the wax aggressively which is not right. In so doing some of the wax that is about to get out is pushed back and gets impacted leading to hearing disturbance.

WHAT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO? As you take a bath use your index finger and clean your ears gently. In doing so you will remove the wax that had come to the surface and hence prevent wax impactio

EARWAX normally just falls out on its own. When it's blocking your ears, then you need to seek medical attention.

SYMPTOMS of earwax build-up include:

✅hearing loss
✅earache or a feeling that your ears are blocked
✅ringing or buzzing in your ears (tinnitus)
✅vertigo (feeling dizzy and sick)

CAUSES of earwax build-up
A build-up of earwax can happen if:

✅you have narrow or damaged ear canals
✅you have lots of hair in your ear canals
✅you have a skin condition affecting your scalp or around your ear
✅you have inflammation of your ear canal (otitis externa or "swimmer’s ear")

Happy 2023 to you all,
