“Cervical cancer is preventable, protect your daughter from cervical cancer”. Cervical cancer is a leading killer of young women in Uganda, driven by low HPV vaccination uptake due to misinformation and limited screening and treatment programs.
We call upon the Ugandan government to double investment to reach 90% of girls with the HPV vaccine, and scale up campaign against misinformation that hinders uptake, with lower rates for the crucial second dose.
Thank you Uganda Cancer Institute and civil society community for actively working towards WHO elimination goals amidst limited resources. We need to do more focusing on community education to dispel myths and improve access to screening & treatments with new technologies.
