A wonderful final day with our hosts at MasterCares. We had a beautiful celebration with the school staff, students and government officials. Followed by a private celebration at a Brazilian steak place. We head out tomorrow morning for a day of rest before traveling as a team to Tanzania. I love this team so much, nothing happens without their dedication and expertise!

Day two and this project is already a wrap! Today started out rainy and with a lot of tough dirt to shovel. But thanks to our amazing volunteers and the team from MasterCares, our 8th water project is done! This afternoon we toured the hospital and malnutrition clinic run by our hosts. It was one of the hardest things I have ever seen. I tried not to take too many pictures, as I felt the sadness of the mother’s and saw the calm demeanor that is only evident in a sick child. I cried as I listened to the doctor talk about the hardships the hospital faces trying to serve so many people on limited resources. I wish everyone could have this experience, as I think it makes us better and more grateful people. May God bless the people of Uganda and the MasterCares as they work tirelessly to help people in need.

THE most amazing day ever!!!

Today we made more progress than we’ve ever made on day one of an Aquascape Foundation trip!!!

Three reasons why...

First, the 66’ by 23’ by 5’ deep hole was excavated brilliantly before we arrived!

Second, we had an Army of helpers from the Master Cares TEAM working side by side with us always eager to lend a hand!

Finally, EVERYONE on this trip are true professionals who not only know what they are doing but work together like the seasoned Pro’s they all are!!!

At 32,000 gallons this Rainwater Harvesting will be the largest project yet we’ve attempted!!!

The 550 students and almost 200 staff will now have access to fresh clean water from the heavens!

Two groups from two countries headed to Africa! So much planning and I cannot wait to see it all come together!

Today a team of talented Certified Aquascape Contractors will be leaving their homes to begin the long trip to Uganda. We will be constructing a 30,000 gallon rainwater harvesting system for MasterCares School located in a small town about 3 hours from Entebbe called Rakai. The campus where we will be working, not only has a school with 500 students, but also a surgical hospital and malnutrition clinic. We are excited to help this wonderful organization!

It's wonderful to see the impact that clean water can make on a mother, a family and a community. We take for granted the availability of clean safe water! The Aquascape Foundation partnered with Blue H2O and International Needs to build this well. Such a blessing to see it making a difference in the community of Monde!

35-year-old Esther lives with her ten children in Monde Village in south central Uganda. She works hard as a peasant farmer and earns less than $28 per month.

We are forever thankful to our network of Certified Aquascape Contractors who expertly install our Aquascape Rainwater Harvesting Systems across the globe! These systems are providing clean safe water to people in need! This plaque will be placed next to our recent project at a high school in Uganda Africa.

As I sit here enjoying being back home, I find myself reflecting on what we just accomplished in Africa.

There is something very special about the Aquascape Foundation and being a volunteer. Words cannot do justice to an Aquascape Foundation mission, as anyone who has experienced can attest. The stresses of traveling as a group can be difficult and there are moments that reflect that. Those moments are always forgotten and the pride of the accomplishment is what I am left remembering. It's that end result that keeps me, and many other volunteers, going back to help more villages get clean water.

We do not take a trip, but rather make missions! It's a mission to stretch each of us out of our comfort zone and to bring hope, love and life saving water to people in need. This team of pond guys and gals did just that! They worked beyond hard and worked so incredibly smart with the singular focus of not stopping until water was flowing!

John Adams, Jason Turpin, Joey Turpin and Brian Helfrich brilliantly figured out how to piece together a filtration system. This would have been hard enough in a first world country with a hardware store down the street. The fact they did it missing parts and tools is a testament to their collective ingenuity. Simply amazing!

As for Alan Decker, Sean Frost, April Frost, Diane Baker, Chris Baker, Nancy Smith, Tom Smith, Chris Ostrander, Andy Kobylka, Ryan Wittstock, Jaak Harju, Lisa Oren, Ray Oren and Bradley Blocksom they were never not moving! With hundreds of aquablox's to assemble, seemingly never ending trenches to dig, tons of sand and rocks needing to be moved from point A to B and a hot heavy liner needing to be manually manipulated into place, there was never a free moment for anyone.

I simply feel grateful. There are not enough words I could use to thank my team of warriors who constructed this project!
You endured so much to succeed at accomplishing the only goal we went for. You are heroes and your efforts will save lives.

Thank you to our partners at the International Needs Network. Without your logistical support this trip would not have happened.

Finally thank you to everyone who supports Aquascape and the Aquascape Foundation. It is only through your continued support of our organizations that we can continue to provide our system in a world with endless need for them.

Until next year...THANK YOU!

"You walked through Uganda and left footprints" Sarah, INNetwork Uganda

We have water! We overcame many obstacles and had water flowing by the end of day three! What a great experience! Thank you to the volunteers on this team! You all are amazingly talented! Thank you for using your gifts to serve and show love to Uganda!

While I'm very proud of the work we've done over the past 9 years, today I was incredibly humbled by what I saw. By using our craft, we have brought clean water to tens of thousands of people, yet our impact doesn't scratch the surface of the issue.

I wish everyone could travel to this part of the world and see the devastation that is happening! Why are we not outraged that children are putting this filthy, parasite infested water into their mouths? Can't we all agree that we love children enough to put our differences aside long and fix real problems?

These trips are incredibly taxing! Emotionally, physically, mentally and financially. Each trip I say, "this has to be the last one!" But how can I know what I know and not do all I can possibly do to help? The pictures I have will be etched in my mind forever! This is my 4th time to Africa, yet I never get used to seeing this level of need and poverty.

If you are reading this post, I beg you to realize how blessed you are!

Today was our first long day of construction! Our day certainly did not go without problems and setbacks. Despite that, we made incredible progress.

I continue to be amazed at how talented our teams are, this one is no exception! They overcome challenges like nothing I have ever seen! We are dirty, exhausted and headed to bed. Tomorrow we do it all over again! Thanks for following our project!
