Monitoring of Intra ocular pressure especially in glacomatous patients is very important. New technological advances not only allow Ophthalmologists to measure a patient's IOP by using a 'smart contact lens', but also to determine which patients are more likely to have rapid progression of their disease based on their IOP fluctuation during the day&/night.

A smart contact lens could help to know whether the disease will progress slowly or advance quickly. Today marked the end of 6 enriching weeks of strabismus assessment and surgeries at Mengo Hospital, Kampala. Two visiting orthoptists from Germany, Ms. Gesina and Ms. Pedra, along with Ms. Lillian (the local orthoptist attached to Mengo Hospital) spearheaded this workshop. Ophthalmology residents from Makere and Mbarara Universities, Ophthalmologists, OCO's and Orthoptists all attended this workshop.
