I know that I am terrible about keeping up with social media. But this week I have been thinking about my life and my job because it is International Midwifery Week. Midwifery is my sweet spot in my life! It allows me the space to use natural gifts and deep brain power. It helps me lean into my trust in God and the core guidance of the Spirit. I love the combination of trust in the birth process and the knowledge of science. And on Tuesday night I was driving home watching this full luminescent moon and hoping a repeat mama would have her baby. And she did. It was beautiful and instinctual and redemptive. And my biggest baby yet. She trusted her body and as her midwife I stepped aside and let her do what her body was made to do. That is the soul of midwifery- knowing when to let go and knowing when they need you to step in. I really do feel like I step into myself in the birth space and that is a comfortable space to be. Happy National Midwifery Week to all my midwife friends and all those who support us.

Midwifery is so full of life. I get to watch young families building beautiful lives for their children- renovating beautiful old homes, kindly guiding their children, finding joy in the process of being parents… it is just the best.
And isn’t this staircase just a dream?!

If you look at scientific literature, you find over and over again that many interventions increase risk to mother and child instead of decreasing it.

This is my midwife friend, Midon Wingo. We love assisting each other. I love this photo of her from last night. This is what midwives do. They wait. They are patient. They listen. They fall in love with your family and they are invested in you. They are careful and cautious with you and your baby (and sometimes your husband). This midwife life grips your heart and it won’t let go. I am a zombie today but a happy zombie. Now it is shower time!

I know I have been terrible about social media lately- no posts! 😬 sorry!
I love being a midwife!!!!! I love women and I love birth! I had the privilege of caring for another midwife’s client while the midwife was out of town and just look at these lovely flowers!!! They are so beautiful and so healthy and fresh! Thank you for thinking of me but mostly thanks for allowing me into your sacred space. Also, I am full for the rest of 2025. I will take new clients if you already have a consult scheduled with me, if you are a repeat client, or if you are due January 24th or beyond in 2026.
