Telemedicine has taken healthcare by storm.
The Doctors at ABILENE FAMILY FOOT CENTER are now offering Telephone Office Visits to their existing patients.
This virtual exam room option provides a new way for patients and their Doctor to interact outside of the office, creating a more convenient way to see individuals who may struggle to make it to the office.
The U.S. Government (CMS) has recently cleared the way for most of the major insurance payers to cover telemedicine, including Medicare and VA.
Telemedicine Visits are not for everyone, but in the practice of Podiatry, telephone visits are most useful for:
1. Patients who need a visit to determine if medication refills are appropriate.
2. Patients who just need to ask questions or seek advice regarding a foot or ankle related problem.
3. Patients who have developed a new problem, and can take digital photos with their cell phone or digital camera. These digital photos can be e-mailed to our office and reviewed by one of the Doctors, who can then review the photo, discuss the problem with the patient on the telephone, review their chart, medications, and allergies, and then make recommendations, and/or prescribe necessary medications.
At the present time, only established patients qualify for Telemedicine Visits.
If you are an established patient of Abilene Family Foot Center, and would like to seek a Telemedicine visit with one of our Doctors (Dr. Albritton or Dr. Bogoian), please call 325-695-8990, and ask to speak to Dawn, who has been expertly trained to determine if you may qualify for a Telemedicine Visit.
In the meantime, please follow all of President Trump's guidelines for avoiding the COVID-19 virus, and Stay Healthy !
