Kara Peery LPC-Associate

Kara Peery LPC-Associate Working with children is my passion as that is where development begins. Play is such an amazing and effective way to connect with children through therapy.

Play provides something familiar for children to connect with within the therapy setting. Under direct supervision of Lisa Powell PhD., LMFT-S, LPC-S

Big emotions need safe spaces, not punishments.

One way to support emotional regulation at home is to create a chill-down corner (also called a regulation space or calm zone).

It’s not a time-out. It’s a time-in.

Here’s what to include:
🧸 A soft beanbag, blanket, or tent
🎧 Noise-reducing headphones or music
🧽 Fidget tools or calming textures
📖 A small book or visual calming cards
🧠 Optional: mirror, timer, or breathing visuals

Sensory-friendly, screen-free, and built for co-regulation.
We help families design routines and tools that support neurodivergent needs at home.

Sometimes behavior is just behavior—but sometimes, it’s your child’s way of saying:

“I’m overwhelmed.”
“I don’t have the words.”
“I don’t feel safe.”

If your child is acting out at home or school, it might be time to look beneath the surface.

Therapy can help uncover the why and build skills that last.
We have therapy spots open now for kids and families who are ready for support.
