This week, we are proud to highlight Jaeden Hamilton, a freshman at CS Brown High School STEM, whose curiosity and commitment to learning set him apart. Jaeden is naturally inquisitive and has a strong interest in science, discoveries, and history. His eagerness to understand how things work extends beyond the classroom, as he spends time watching game reviews to strengthen his strategic thinking and analytical skills.

Outside of academics, Jaeden enjoys riding his bike, drawing, and exploring new ideas through engaging educational content like TED-Ed videos. These interests reflect his thoughtful nature and desire to continually expand his knowledge.

Looking ahead, Jaeden plans to attend the University of Delaware to pursue a Bachelor of Physiotherapy, followed by a Master of Physiotherapy with a concentration in Rehabilitation Science. He is especially passionate about the field of physiotherapy, where he hopes to help individuals recover from injuries, rebuild strength, and improve their overall quality of life.

Jaeden’s determination, intellectual curiosity, and heart for service position him well for a meaningful career in healthcare. We look forward to watching him grow and make a lasting impact in the lives of others.

Dakota Faison is a freshman at Hertford County Early College High School who exemplifies compassion, determination, and a strong commitment to growth in both healthcare and athletics. With a passion for working with animals, Dakota aspires to attend NC State University and pursue a career in veterinary medicine. In addition to her healthcare interests, she is an accomplished student-athlete, playing basketball for Hertford County High School and participating in volleyball, with hopes of one day competing in the WNBA. Known for her caring and kind nature, Dakota enjoys spending time outdoors, cooking, and learning practical life skills beyond the classroom. She is excited to continue developing her knowledge and skills within the health science field while striving toward her ambitious academic and athletic goals.

We are honored to spotlight Za’Kiyah Fennell, a junior at Hertford County High School, whose creativity, thoughtfulness, and compassion reflect the true spirit of a future healer. 🎨📚

Za’Kiyah enjoys painting and drawing as meaningful outlets for self-expression and calm, while reading allows her to expand her perspective and grow both emotionally and intellectually. Through these interests, she has developed patience, empathy, and curiosity—essential qualities that she carries with her in all that she does and will one day bring to the healthcare field.

After high school, Za’Kiyah plans to attend Appalachian State University to pursue a four-year degree in nursing. She aspires to become a midwife nurse, a calling that will allow her to blend compassion with clinical skill while supporting families and being present during some of life’s most profound and life-changing moments. 👶💙

We are proud to celebrate Za’Kiyah and her dedication to service, learning, and care. Her future in healthcare is bright, and her journey is just beginning! ✨🩺

Meet Za’Riah Mann, a freshman at C.S. Brown High School and a proud member of our Health Science Academy. In her free time, Za’Riah enjoys cooking, baking, drawing, and spending quality time with her family—activities that reflect her creativity, patience, and caring nature. After graduating high school, she plans to attend college to earn her Associate Degree in Nursing, with aspirations to continue her education at East Carolina University, UNC Charlotte, or North Carolina State University. Za’Riah is particularly interested in a career in sonography, as she is fascinated by learning how to study, read, and understand sonograms and their importance in patient care. Her passion for learning and heart for service truly represent the spirit of a future healthcare professional. 💙

Meet Leanne Sibanda, a sophomore at C.S. Brown STEM High School and a proud member of our future healthcare leaders!

🎹 Beyond the Classroom:
Leanne enjoys playing the piano, listening to music, and expressing her creativity through video creation and editing. Her passion for both the arts and sciences reflects a well-rounded approach to learning—an important foundation for any future healer.

🩺 Future Goals:
After high school, Leanne plans to pursue pre-med with the goal of earning a doctorate degree. While she is still exploring her options, she is currently interested in becoming an anesthesiologist. She hopes to continue her academic journey at ECU, UNC, or Duke University.

Today, we extend our sincere thanks to Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center for the opportunity to support their food bank distribution. Our Health Science Academy students were honored to serve by packaging and distributing fresh fruits, vegetables, and bags of food to families in our community.

Experiences like this reinforce the importance of service, compassion, and partnership—values that have long strengthened our community and continue to guide our future. We are proud of our students for giving back and making a meaningful impact today.

We are incredibly proud of our Health Science Academy Ambassadors who represented our program with excellence at the Hertford County Public Schools Board Meeting, where they provided a meaningful Fall Update on the progress and impact of the Academy.

A special thank you to Aleigha Dalzell, Antaniyah Branch, Kiana Faison, and Nijah Jennings for your professionalism, confidence, and leadership. You truly embodied what it means to be a Health Science Academy Ambassador and represented our students, families, and school community with pride.

Meet Janaiya Jacobs, a dedicated junior at Hertford County High School whose warm personality and forward-looking goals make her an inspiring member of our Health Science Academy.

Janaiya enjoys listening to music, spending meaningful time with her family, shopping, and simply appreciating the present moment. These interests reflect her balanced approach to life and her ability to stay grounded while pursuing big dreams.

After high school, Janaiya plans to attend a four-year university out of state, with Michigan State University at the top of her list. She hopes to earn a PhD in Neurology and Psychology, fields that deeply inspire her. Neurology fascinates her because it focuses on the study of the brain and the nervous system, while psychology interests her due to its focus on the human mind and fundamental concepts that shape behavior.

Janaiya’s passion for understanding how people think, feel, and function makes her an excellent example of a future healer committed to making a difference. We celebrate her ambition and look forward to seeing all she will accomplish. 💙✨

We are proud to recognize Hertford County Early College High School freshman, Charlie Munford! 🐾

Charlie enjoys playing the drums at his church, camping and watching movies with his family, and caring for his dogs and gecko. With a heart for service and a passion for science, Charlie plans to attend college and pursue a career as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or a Nuclear Radiologist. He aspires to study at NC State College of Veterinary Medicine or ECU Brody School of Medicine and hopes to make a meaningful difference wherever life leads.

We are excited to watch Charlie’s journey as he continues to shape the future of healthcare and animal care! 🩺🐶🦎
