Today, we celebrated the retirement of Karen Rittmann, a DSP who has been part of our UDS family for 29 incredible years. While we are sad to see her go, we are deeply grateful for the decades she dedicated to the people in our day programs and, most recently, to the members of BraVo!. Her compassion and heart will continue to inspire us for years to come!

Members of our BraVo! team spent the day volunteering at the Rotary Camp for Children with Special Needs helping them prepare for their 36th Annual Chili Open Golf Classic.

We’re grateful for the chance to support a place that empowers individuals with disabilities through meaningful camp experiences and we're so proud of our BraVo! participants for making a difference in our community! 💙

In our final issue of Kaleidoscope, we reflect on a journey that has reshaped perceptions of disability and celebrated the voices of countless writers and artists. Our closing theme is about movement, specifically forward motion. “We Walk” by Kirk Lawson, “Falling Forward” by Adam B. Perry and several other works reveal the need to advance, evolve, and adapt.

“Papa was a Rollin’” is our featured essay and provides a heartfelt glimpse into the life of a child who has only ever known a father who uses a wheelchair. Through the ups and downs, she has been along for the ride, admiring his humor, strength, grit, and determination. All of which have shaped the woman she’s become.

Seasons are ever-changing throughout life and we are grateful to those who have been with us for so many years. While this is the end of our journey we know you will continue the mission to explore the experience of disability and change perceptions moving forward. Thank you for being an essential part of our story.
