On March 9, 2026, Summa Health dedicated the Wadsworth-Rittman Medical Center Auxiliary legacy wall, honoring decades of service and impact.

What began in 1959 with 13 women supporting Wadsworth Municipal Hospital grew into a lasting legacy. Through gift shop and snack bar proceeds, raffles, festivals and charity events, the Auxiliary funded vital programs like Lifeline, the Bear Project and the Wound Center, along with essential equipment.

Their commitment extended beyond the hospital, supporting local organizations including the Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels and Rittman EMS.

For more than 65 years, the Auxiliary contributed over $1.8 million and nearly 100,000 volunteer hours, leaving a lasting impact on Summa Health and the Wadsworth community.

⚾ Fun Fact: Baseball mascots first appeared in the late 1970s. And they’ve been keeping fans smiling (and moving) ever since.

Keeping the ballpark buzzing takes stamina – on opening day and all season long. Before the gates open, even the RubberDucks mascots warm up.

A proper warm-up helps reduce injury risk and keeps bodies moving safely – on the field, at work and at home. Just a few minutes of stretching can make a difference. 🤸‍♂️💪

Read our blog to warm up like a pro. https://www.summahealth.org/flourish/entries/2023/02/warming-up-before-a-run-or-workout

We are proud to announce that Summa Health System has become the first hospital in Ohio to perform a minimally invasive metabolic procedure using revolutionary magnetic compression technology.

Unlike traditional bariatric surgery, this technique (magnetic compression anastomosis) uses specially designed magnets to create intestinal connections without the need for surgical incisions, staples, or sutures. According to Dr. Adrian Dan, Medical Director of the Weight Management Institute, this advancement significantly improves patient safety and comfort by harnessing the body’s natural healing process.

This "magnetic connection" helps the body naturally produce more GLP-1, the hormone that regulates appetite and blood sugar. It’s a game-changer for those with severe obesity or difficult-to-control Type 2 diabetes.
