Did You Know. . . The First Quarter Moon – Class 2/24/26
February 24th is the first quarter moon and occurs when the moon is one quarter of the way through the lunar cycle. The first quarter moon has several spiritual meanings. Many see it as a symbol of strength, moving towards full brightness or the “yang” phase of its development. Others associate the first quarter moon as a time of energy and action, such as overcoming obstacle to move toward achieving goals.

Did You Know. . . Chinese New Year – The Year of the Horse – Class 2/17/26
February 17th is the beginning of the Chinese New Year fifteen-day celebration. It is also called Spring Festival or Lunar New Year and considered the most important holiday in China and celebrated by over 8 billion people worldwide. Each Chinese New Year is associated with one of 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac and 2026 it is Fire Horse. In Chinese culture, the Horse is known for its energetic and dynamic nature. It symbolizes vitality, speed, and perseverance and 2026 is viewed as a year of optimism and opportunity. We can celebrate the Horses energy by practicing yoga flows with Sun Salutations, faster paced vinyasa or practicing Surya Bhedana (Sun-Piercing Breath).

Happy Valentine's Day, spending time with a loved, walking in nature or giving yourself some self-love curled up reading a book. As yogis we can celebrate by practicing asanas to ‘open the heart’ or a Lovingkindness/Meta meditation by yourself, with family, friends or your sangha. Roses not required!

Did You Know. . . No Class – 2/10/2026
February brings us many celebrations (Mardi Gras, Chinese New Year), religious observances (Lent, Ramadan) and a host of other fun events (Super Bowl, Valentines Day). From a yogic perspective, February often centers on compassion, heart-opening,(Anahata, heart Chakra) while maintaining balance as we continue to move through winter, Vata Season. Practices for February:

o Heart-Opening Poses: Camel, Cobra, Cat/Cow Flow, Bridge
o Set an intention focused for self-compassion and compassion for others
o Practice Meta/Loving-kindness meditation for the month

Did You Know. . . Groundhog Day/Imbolc – Class 2/3/26 Join Us!
Imbolc, also known as Candlemas or St. Brigid’s Day is one of four traditional Gaelic seasonal festivals. It marks the halfway point between winter solstice and spring equinox and the beginning of the agricultural year. It is also Groundhog Day and like Imbolc is considered a time of transformation and renewal. For many yogis’ it often means we need to begin again and again on our journey. things we practice over and over again and repeat. Bill Murray in Groundhog Day he had to repeat over and over again until he began to transform. Life is a process, constantly unfolding and repetition offers us the insight to move forward, to begin again. Like Punxsutawney Phil, we can see shadows (and six more weeks of winter) and run back into our den or we can begin again and again and again!
