✨ We’re proud to welcome Joshua Roybal, LCSW to Rise Above Therapy.
Joshua is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Army veteran, and proud New Mexican who brings deep clinical experience and lived understanding to his work. Having spent years serving fellow veterans through the Veterans Health Administration, Joshua has developed specialized insight into trauma, moral injury, and major life transitions.
He works primarily with adults navigating complex trauma, single-incident trauma, severe anxiety (including panic attacks, phobias, obsessive thoughts, and compulsions), unresolved grief, depression, identity struggles, and phase-of-life challenges. Joshua also provides support for suicidality and deeply entrenched patterns that impact quality of life.
His approach is grounded in mindfulness and values-based work, helping clients build broader perspectives and move toward meaningful, lasting healing. Joshua is trained in:
• Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
• EMDR
• Exposure Therapy
• Motivational Interviewing
• Mindfulness-based interventions
He also offers specialized sleep-focused therapies, including Imagery Rehearsal Therapy (IRT) for trauma-related nightmares and desensitization therapy for individuals who struggle with CPAP use for sleep apnea.
Joshua creates a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients can process safely, strengthen resilience, and develop practical tools for sustainable change.
