Beyond Limits Adaptive Sports Resource for adaptive sports programs for youth with physical disabilities in New Mexico.

The Beyond Limits Adaptive Sports Camp was begun in 2001 as the Muthu Barry Junior Wheelchair Sports Camp. The camp was designed for youth with physical disabilities (Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, SCI, Amputation, etc.) to allow them to experience sports in the same way that their friends without disabilities experience them...only the sports are adapted to allow them to compete at a level commensurate with their disability. From the Climbing Wall to Archery to Track and Field, the week was a busy introduction to many sports and recreational activities. Beyond Limits Adaptive Sports is a resource for youth with physical disabilities and their families to access adaptive sports programs in New Mexico.

Starting next year, people who became disabled by age 46 will be eligible to open ABLE accounts. The accounts have been slow to catch on, partly because the current age limit is 26.

Dr. Kristen Morris and Dr. Lida Aflatoony with Colorado State University are collaborating on a study to improve footwear options for individuals who use Ankle-Foot Orthoses.
