This time of year always makes me nostalgic and miss Portugal...it’s the little details that remind me of my early childhood spent there that set me off, like this photo taken outside my mother’s house. Known as calçada, this traditional style of pavement is still found throughout Portugal and its former colonies, but is becoming less common as the long hours and low wages make it harder to find skilled craftsmen. 🍁🍂

Who says the best fall color only happens in New England? Well, I did, before moving out west. This was taken in New Mexico at the El Malpais National Monument. One of the many hikes the dogs and I took to stretch our legs during our long drive. The trail took us through a volcanic landscape and the occasional, magnificent golden cottonwood. @ El Malpais National Monument

I just got back from a spontaneous cross country drive to Chattanooga, Tennessee (!!!) with my dogs and wanted to share with you two favorite essential oil blends that made the drive so much more comfortable: En-R-Gee and Thieves. For topical use, dilute either using 1 drop with 4 drops of olive oil. OR you can do what I did and dab a few drops on a cotton ball then place it in the air vent of your car. Not only did it help keep me awake but it made the trip so much more enjoyable without the stinky dog smells. And I love my dogs, but all of us packed into a car for hours on end can be too much eau d’dog.
I found the Thieves aroma to be a little stronger than the En-R-Gee, maybe because of the cinnamon and eucalyptus, so follow their recommendations and diffuse it for less time, 10 minutes instead of a half hour. When I was done diffusing the oils, I simply put them in a little zip-lock plastic bag to reuse later. Both are 100% pure, therapeutic-grade essential.
Fresh and herbaceous, En-R-Gee essential oil blend gave me an invigorating aromatic boost when I needed it most: the last couple of hours before getting to our destination for the night. It has a stimulating, spicy-pine fragrance of Rosemary, Juniper, Lemongrass, Nutmeg, Balsam Fir, Clove, and Black Pepper.

Thieves essential oil blend is a powerful combination of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary essential oils that filled my truck with a rich, spicy aroma. Perfect for the changing weather and first crisp fall days we had in the mountains of Tennessee.

A Ecoteca de Porto de Mós acolherá a exposição "O mundo secreto das plantas", entre os dias 1 de fevereiro e 31 de março, da iniciativa da Associação para Promoção do Património - Vertigem.

A exposição "O mundo secreto das plantas" é um projeto de educação ambiental que propõe uma nova abordagem na observação e estudo das plantas, não como meros alimentos, ornamentos ou símbolos, mas como seres vivos complexos, que utilizam capacidades sensoriais, ferramentas, técnicas e modelos de comunicação verdadeiramente surpreendentes.

Esta exposição tem como base um conjunto de maquetes que pretendem, de uma forma simples e interativa, replicar estudos e pesquisas desenvolvidos em plantas, no campo sensorial e da comunicação.

A exposição é aberta ao público em geral, tendo como principal alvo a população em idade escolar.
