We’re still basking in amazement over how incredibly the Phillips family navigated their birth! Quiet stillness, simple trust, and effort brought a sweet baby in only a few hours. The video on the stairs taken just 10 minutes before baby was born…back in the bedroom. Absolutely incredible to witness the strength and resolve women show during birth. It is a wonder!
So honored to watch you bring your baby into your arms, Jessica and Carson!

My Birth Friend Midwifery care includes postpartum visits in our client’s home. You can expect a visit at 24 to 36 hours after you’ve given birth, in your home, at your bedside. And, then, we visit on day 3 - a day when lots of moms may be feeling overwhelmed with breastfeeding and all the newness of their journey. Again, we come to you on day 5 AND day 7 to reassure you that baby is gaining weight and to catch any concerns with you or your sweetheart.
We’ll continue with postpartum, at-home visits, at 2 and 4 weeks. These are usually shorter visits. But, they help support moms when they often feel lonely, so. very. tired, and in need of a listening ear.
Finally, we wrap up your birth journey with a visit at 6 weeks postpartum. This is often bitter sweet. Witnessing families reshape into a mold all their own is quite a gift!

Life, like postpartum, is like a box of chocolates. Since you never know what you’re gonna get, doesn’t make since that your postpartum provider’s care should come to you?
While you’re trying to rest, restoring your health, and learning your new baby, we being watchful, supportive, and giving guidance in case greater attention is recommended.

Planned home birth with a qualified midwife continues to show strong outcomes for low risk families. The evidence is clear, and families deserve policies that reflect that reality. NACPM advocates for licensure and integration so CPMs can practice safely and legally in every state. Access to community birth is a maternal health issue.
