Some special moments at Nelson Care Center recently—members of our hospice team stopped by for a fun afternoon of pumpkin painting with residents. Everyone was chatting, painting, and enjoying a time of togetherness. To top it off, the hospice team brought along some delicious pie to share. It’s always a joy when we come together like this to brighten each other’s day.

Thank you to our hospice team for showing what it means to lead with a servant heart and live out our mission every day. 💚

Thanks to a thoughtful gift from Pamela Kamholz, residents at Nelson Care Center by Vivie have some new surprises to look forward to at bingo. Pamela generously donated a $250 gift card—used to purchase festive prizes that are already bringing smiles and seasonal cheer.

Pamela is the daughter of residents Jay and Mae, and her kindness is a beautiful reflection of the love surrounding this community.

We’re grateful for moments like this—where families, team members, and residents come together to make life more joyful.

Northfield Retirement Community by Vivie is filling 200 stockings with Christmas cheer for residents, and we’d love your help.

We’re looking for donations of stocking stuffers for residents to enjoy. Items like adult coloring and large-print activity books, colored pencils, lotions, lip balms, ornaments, stationery, pens, stamps, scarves, store-bought treats, and other small delights are welcome.

Residents from Walker Place by Vivie recently got an inside look at U.S. Bank Stadium—home of the Minnesota Vikings. From walking the field and exploring the stands to learning the history and picking up a few souvenirs, it was a day full of discovery. 🏈

Big thanks to our incredible tour guides who made everyone feel so welcomed and included. Experiences like this remind us of the power of community and connection.

Last week, Timber Pines by Vivie held a week of heartfelt activities to honor the veterans who call Timber Pines home. Each veteran received a special pin, and a “Fallen Soldier Table” was set up in the dining room as a moving tribute.

The week also saw the launch of Beyond the Uniform, a monthly program—led by veteran and former Pine City mayor Carl Pederson—that offers space to residents to share experiences and reflections.

The week served as a powerful reminder of the stories that shape us—and the importance of honoring every chapter.

We’re so proud to see Stan Nelson—beloved resident of The Plaza by Vivie and World War II veteran—honored as Minnesota’s oldest living WWII veteran at the Minnesota Wild game this Veterans Day. What a remarkable moment for a remarkable man. 🇺🇸

Stan Nelson served in the U.S. Navy for three years and participated in the D-Day invasion of Normandy, and now he is being honored as the oldest living World War II veteran in Minnesota. Read more in the link in comments.

Yesterday, across Vivie, we paused to celebrate our veterans.

At Nelson Care Center, resident veterans were recognized with a parade through the halls, accompanied by music and support from fellow residents and team members. At Nelson Gables, red poppies bloomed—crafted by residents in tribute to the history of Veterans Day.

And at Walker Place, team member Willie Jackson led a heartfelt program that brought together residents, families in reflection and gratitude, followed by a meal prepared by Chef Thomas and the culinary team. Every detail—from the food to the donated flowers from local floral shop Fleurs de Lee helped make the day feel special.
To every veteran: thank you. Your service means more than words can say. 💙 🇺🇸

At 105 years old, Stan Nelson has lived a life of service, leadership, and heart. As a Navy lieutenant, he was among the first to land at Omaha Beach on D-Day during World War II. Years later, he became a beloved football coach at Anoka High School, leading his teams to championships and inspiring generations of players.

Recently, Stan—now a resident of The Plaza by Vivie—returned to the field that defined so much of his life. With the help of our team, he took one more ride through Anoka to cheer on his hometown Tornadoes. Read the full story of Stan’s remarkable homecoming: https://hubs.la/Q03SK8QJ0
