I have been working with athletes and coaches since I was 18 yesrs old (34yrs).

Some achieving their potential, most not.

Those that reach their potential most times had quality coaching to guide and inspire them.

If coached properly with a comprehensive approach, these athletes are eager to learn, stay in the game for decades with continued passion and rarely get injured.

Those that don’t achieve their potential usually lack proper structure in their training.

In many instances, their coach lacks connection to the athlete, doesn’t listen and piles on the miles.

Poor coaching can also produce improved performance for a couple of seasons but you’ll most likely be overtrained and burned out.

I have the privilege of working with one of the best lacrosse athletes in NJ.

He was looking to improve his endurance and drop body fat.

We started with a VO2 Max Test to assess his ability to use stored body fat for fuel.

Fat = Purple bar
Carbs = Gold bar

The initial test showed no ability to burn fat.

After 3 months of basic Zone 2 training and 6 weeks of EPT Endurance Level 1 training he is now a FAT BURNING MACHINE!

Before precise Zone 2 training:

Heart rate 147
175 fat calories burned/hr
475 carb calories burned/hr

After EPT Endurance Level 1:

Heart rate 147
524 fat calories burned/hr!!!
208 carb calories burned/hr

Now his body can access body fat for fuel which:

Adam has Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis from the burn pits in Iraq.

Adam is terminal and there is no cure.

Your VO2 Max is your bodies ability to transport and use oxygen.

We know we can improve VO2 Max with more cardio and losing weight.

We know we improve VO2 Max with higher intensity training.

What most don’t know is you can improve VO2 Max with breath training.

The most fundamental skill to improve cardio with breath training is the ability to maintain NASAL breathing.

My recommendation:

1. Have your VO2 Max tested accurately (NOT USING A WEARABLE OR ALGORITHMS) so you know your baseline.

2. Start breathing (inhale and exhale) only through the nose. NO MOUTH BREATHING.

We all have enough time to eat better and get in daily movement/exercise.

It comes to what your priorities are.

For some if us our priority is work, family obligations, going out to dinner, scrolling through social, staying up late, waking up late.

And I get it.

But I also see my client’s priorities make a significant shift once they realize they are hitting middle age, gaining weight, have poor blood test results, stressed out daily, start medication for high blood pressure/ diabetes and just look and feel old.

The most difficult thing to recapture is your health.

Once you lose your health, you may switch your priorities but it may be too late to fully regain your health.
