But in all seriousness—April is Autism Awareness Month, and we’re proud to spend this month highlighting and supporting the incredible work of the Autism Society of Lehigh Valley, a volunteer-led parent organization that connects individuals with autism and their families to resources, community activities, and a supportive network across the Lehigh Valley. 💙

This organization is very close to our hearts, and we’re excited to give them a platform through our community. Throughout April, in addition to highlighting this amazing local group, we’ll also be sharing more information about autism and resources available for autistic individuals and families in the Lehigh Valley.

We’ll have limited in-person craft show appearances this month, so if you’ve had your eye on something, now’s the perfect time to order! Shop through our website or send us a message for more info.

Thank you to everyone that has supported Ajai and his artwork over the years! We are sad to announce he will be entering retirement effective immediately. Although he loves making art for people, Ajai will use his new free time to persue his real passion-testing out every roller coaster in at least once a day (for quality assurance, of course! 😉)

Special Arts and Cards - Our Story

Ajai is a young adult with autism attending high school in Pennsylvania, USA. He discovered his interest in art accidentally in the summer of 2017 when he was struggling with anxiety and emotional regulation. His mom introduced him to painting as form of therapy and he very quickly fell in love with it! With help and guidance from his Mom, Ajai started creating canvas art using acrylic paint and a variety of multi-media such as buttons, beads, beans, glitter, etc. In October of 2017, Ajai participated in the local Autism Society’s first ever “Autism and Arts” event. The event was a great success, Ajai became inspired to make even more pieces of art and “Special Arts and Cards” was born!

When he’s not busy creating art, Ajai loves to travel. So far, he has visited India, Canada, Iceland, Spain, Mexico, Dubai, Oman, and several states within the United States of America. He also loves listening to music, playing the piano, riding roller coasters, learning about trains and cars (Chrysler 300M is his favorite!) and enjoying a variety of food!!

Special Arts and Cards is a small family business to help Ajai sell his canvas art and greeting cards. His family hopes that creating art continues to be therapeutic for Ajai and that the business will give him a chance to share his passion with the world. They also hope that it will be a source of income for Ajai that will go towards his special needs trust fund. It will also help Ajai buy more art supplies!!
