Listen — Motivation (if it shows up at all) disappears when life gets hard. And life gets hard in some way or another every week. But … Discipline works when motivation fails. Every. Time.

To be blunt, elite wellness isn’t emotional. It can’t be. It has to be structured or it won’t happen at all.

Most people wait until they feel like it … whatever “it” is.

I personally known people who have been talking about losing weight for 20 years. Not making that up. 20+ years of talking about doing a thing is crazy.

That’s why most people stay stuck. They wait for the magical motivation to show up.

It never will. Motivation comes and goes and is as unreliable as emotions.

Discipline. Systems. Plans. Schedules. These are the things that get you from talking about it to doing it.

When you truly want something, you get it. If you can’t get it the way you thought it would happen, you find another way.

Finding what motivated and drives you can surprise you. Sometimes it comes unexpectedly in a huge way, manifested in urgency, inspired by fear. Other times it may be an awakening inside you that just blooms into an overwhelming desire to make a change and love yourself.

Any way motivation comes to you and you make a decision, time makes an appearance.

I started my fitness journey as a mom with no money, no gym and 5 kids under 8 (3 in diapers). I was alone with no help managing the kids, the house, or anything else.

What drove me? My sagging @$$. I saw myself in a bikini at 28 and said 🙈🤬 Somethings gotta change!

And it did. 90 days later I had 2” more in my 🍑 and 2” less in my waist and I MADE time. Whether it was 6am, 2pm or 10pm, my workout always happened, 6 days out of 7. (Thanks to Beachbody.com!)

You want it or you don’t.

Not all clients are the same, and not every body is the same.

One of the things I love most about what I do is getting to know people — their goals, their challenges, and what truly matters most to them. From there, we focus the work where it needs to be so they can actually reach those goals.

Lindsey has worked so hard. She has jumped hurdle after hurdle that life has put in her way, and even when it might seem easier to quit, she shows up. Every. Time.

And I’m proud of her for that. Her journey has been filled with the most inconvenient challenges at the most inconvenient times. Yet here she is, still amazing me over and over again by showing up — even when everything else seems to be fighting against her.

And it’s not over yet.

But I wanted to share her progress today as a reminder: it’s never too late. There is always time. Everyone has challenges. Everyone’s life is hard in one way or another — but there is always time to prioritize yourself and choose to love yourself enough to keep showing up.

Balance8Life started as a fitness space… but it’s grown with me.

Over time I realized it was never just about workouts. It’s about the daily habits that shape everything — how you eat, move, rest, breathe, think, and live.

Our bodies were created to do more than sit. Walk a few feet and sit again. Sit to work. Sit to drive from work. Sit to eat. Sit to relax. Sleep restlessly and wake up to sit again. 😩

Our world now feeds everything that promotes the opposite of health. It feeds laziness, emotional sensitivities, mental check out, obesity, general neglect of our bodies, excuses of all sorts, mental illness disorders, disease, fatigue, pain, muscle loss, bone loss, ….

Everything our bodies were made to do most of the human population just doesn’t do anymore.

We were created to work physically hard, eat whole foods, drink pure water, sleep fully, be outside daily, be in the sun, spend time meditating and being quiet, breathing deeply of fresh air, and living the kind of life that heals our mind, body and soul.

But most people don’t do that anymore - we have to be intentional about our health if we want to feel and look good and be happy and healthy.

Movement is part of growth, strength, respect, health, mental and physical, and is a natural way to slow aging.

There are so many reasons to move and zero reasons not to.

• Slower recovery
• Cardiovascular strain

It’s linked to many chronic diseases because it damages cells over time.

Your body does produce its own antioxidants — but production naturally declines starting in your early 20s.
