To inspire and advance wholeness, community, and fulfillment in the practice of medicine.

Our Vision
We envision an environment which promotes physician and APP joy and wholeness in the compassionate service of healing. We believe that physician well-being and engagement are vital to the mission of all healthcare organizations, and particularly to that of faith-based institutions. The Coalition for Physician Well-Being is committed to creating a physician-hospital paradigm that promotes personal and professional fulfillment, sustains physician families, builds collegial relationships, and enhances a healing culture, thereby benefitting patient care and contributing to overall hospital performance.

As the holiday season draws near and another year comes to a close, we are filled with immense gratitude for each and every one of you who make up our community. On Giving Tuesday, we're all reminded that so many of the causes around the world we take for granted are often made possible through the dedication of volunteers and generous donations from those that truly believe in the work they do.

For the Coalition, the work of building a generation of physicians and APPs that prioritize well-being throughout the duration of their careers is paramount to the longevity of our healthcare systems and the excellent care we hope to give our patients.

The Dianne McCallister Memorial Resident Scholarship Program is a tribute to the work of the late Dianne McCallister, MD, MBA – a founding member of the Coalition for Physician & APP Well-Being and a champion for the lasting fulfillment and engagement of clinicians in the practice of medicine. This scholarship will allow physician residents with a targeted interest in well-being to partake in the annual Joy & Wholeness Summit meeting with no cost to their registration, meals, and lodging.

By connecting physician residents with healthcare leaders and organizations spearheading well-being, it is our hope that these residents will become champions for systems change and a cultural shift in healthcare toward the strategic wellness of all healthcare workers, clinicians, and caregivers.

This week, we're celebrating the amazing contributions of the over 460,000 licensed nurse practitioners in our healthcare system!

National Nurse Practitioner Week reminds us that our nurse practitioners, much like our other caregivers, are the backbone of excellent care and patient experience. As a Coalition, we have made it part of our mission to elevate nurse practitioner voices to the decision making table when it comes to how to best serve our caregivers' well-being and our patients.

Join us in honoring our NPs this week and every week as we work to advance the well-being and engagement of all our caregivers in healthcare.

On World Mental Health Day, we understand that the intersectionality of many things in our lives play a key role in our mental well-being. For our clinicians, the challenges of systemic barriers to professional and personal well-being can add to the pressures of daily life and exhaust them in ways we may not see on the surface.

As we take a stand to create a culture of well-being in our healthcare systems, let us make certain that we do not add to the challenges of our clinicians by failing to address fixable roadblocks to wellness. Let us make certain that we take the time to listen thoughtfully and act quickly to address the needs of our clinicians and the healthcare systems they drive.

Join the Coalition this week in recognizing all of our incredible PAs for ! The PA profession produced its first class of graduates in 1967 and was seen as a creative and necessary solution to addressing physician shortages across the country. Today, our healthcare system would be nothing without the tireless work of our PAs and everyone who has championed the progress toward accreditation and inclusion of PAs in delivering excellent patient care.
