Charity of the month For February 2024: 👩🏽‍⚖️

Our page and shop took a one-month break for some very much needed self-care.

This month is Black History month, and in honor of this, ShareSelfCare’s February 2024 Charity of the month is the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund.

History & Mission:
“The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund (LDF) was founded in 1940 under the leadership of Thurgood Marshall. Although LDF’s primary purpose was to provide legal assistance to poor African Americans, its work over the years has brought greater justice to all Americans. Originally affiliated with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), LDF has been an entirely separate organization since 1957. LDF has been involved in more cases before the U.S. Supreme Court than any organization except the U.S. Department of Justice. Although LDF works primarily through the courts, its strategies include advocacy, educational outreach, legislation monitoring, coalition building and policy research. Additionally, it provides scholarships for exceptional African-American students.“

A good friend told me, “Treat yourself like you would your best friend. If you wouldn’t say or do something to your best friend, then don’t say or do it to yourself” 👯‍♀️

Some tend to be harsher to themselves than those they care about. Being able to accept and be kind to yourself is the first step to loving yourself and becoming best friends with yourself. 🤗

This month is National Immunization Awareness Month, Spinal Muscular Atrophy Awareness Month, World Cancer Support Month, National Breastfeeding Month, and a few others.

In honor of awareness for multiple health awareness causes this month, ShareSelfCare’s August 2023 Charity of the month is The Healthwell Foundation. ✨

The organization’s mission is “to reduce financial barriers to care for underinsured patients with chronic or life-altering diseases.”

They “provide financial assistance to help with: Prescription copays, Health insurance premiums, deductibles and coinsurance, Pediatric treatment costs, Travel costs, Behavioral health services.”

This charity's score is 100%, earning it a Four-Star rating on Charity Navigator and is among the highest rated charities which means most of their money is going towards making an impact.
