☀️ Sunday Afternoon Check-In 🤍

Let’s have a little fun together in this in-between moment before a new week begins.

💬 Finish this sentence in the comments:
“Right now, pregnancy feels like ______.”

It can be one word, a feeling, or a full sentence.
There’s no right answer — just real life.

However today feels, you’re welcome here 🤍

🍼 Bottle-Feeding Basics

Bottle-fed newborns typically take 2–3 ounces per feeding.

Daily intake guideline:
• About 2–3 ounces per pound of body weight per day
• Example: A 10-lb baby needs roughly 20–30 ounces per day

Every baby is different — follow hunger and fullness cues rather than forcing a schedule.

Breastfeeding Basics

Breastfeeding tip many parents don’t hear 🤍
✨Let baby fully feed on one breast before switching.
✨At least 10 minutes — or until baby pulls away or falls asleep.
✨Burp, then offer the second side.
✨Some babies need to nurse twice on one side — and that’s okay.

🕰️Watch your baby, not the clock.

🤱 Breastfeeding Basics

When breastfeeding, allow your baby time to fully feed on one side.

Helpful tips:
• Nurse on the first side for at least 10 minutes
• Watch your baby — not the clock
• Baby may fall asleep or pull away when finished
• Burp, then offer the second side
• Some babies need to nurse twice on one side before switching

Fully draining the breast supports milk production and helps baby get the nutrient-rich hindmilk.

🤱 How Often Newborns Eat

Newborns eat often — and that’s exactly what they’re supposed to do.

What to expect: 🍼
• 8–12 feedings per day (sometimes more)
• No more than 3 hours between feeds during the day
• No more than 4 hours at night
• Some babies feed as often as every hour

Feeding on demand helps regulate milk supply, supports growth, and keeps baby well hydrated.

👶 Newborn Sleep Basics

Newborns sleep a lot — 12–20 hours per day — but usually only in short stretches of 1–3 hours at a time. This is normal and protective.

Safe sleep reminders:
• Always place baby on their back
• Use a firm sleep surface
• Keep the sleep space free of pillows, blankets, and stuffed animals
• Keep the room cool (not above 70°F)

Frequent waking is not a sign of a “bad sleeper” — it’s part of healthy newborn development.

🌿 The Amazing Placenta 🤍

The placenta is often overlooked—but it is one of the most incredible organs your body will ever create.

Throughout pregnancy, the placenta:
• Brings oxygen and nutrients to your baby
• Removes waste your baby doesn’t need
• Shares antibodies and hormones while keeping your blood separate
• Produces hormones that support pregnancy, birth, bonding, and breastfeeding

By full term, the placenta weighs about a pound and forms a beautiful, tree-like pattern of blood vessels on the baby’s side—often called the “tree of life.”

At birth, your baby plays an active role in transition. The umbilical cord closes in stages, allowing oxygen-rich blood to continue flowing from the placenta during those first moments after birth. This is why waiting to clamp the cord until it stops pulsating—often 2–4 minutes—can be so beneficial.

Across cultures, the placenta is honored as a life-giving organ. Some families choose to see it, hold it, or create rituals to honor its role—such as planting it beneath a tree to grow alongside their child.

Whether you wish to keep, honor, or dispose of your placenta, the most important thing is making your wishes known before birth, this way your choices are respected in those powerful first moments.

🌱 Monday Intentions for Pregnant Families

Good morning and happy Monday 🤍
A new week is a chance to begin again—gently.

Let’s check in together:
✨ What is one intention your family is setting for this week?

Maybe it’s:
• more patience with your changing body
• prioritizing rest
• staying hydrated
• connecting with your baby
• asking for help when you need it

Drop your intention in the comments and let’s support one another as this week unfolds.

🌱 Looking Back on Your Pregnancy Journey

As your pregnancy continues, take time to look back at earlier journal entries.

You may notice how your fears softened, how your confidence grew, or how your connection to your baby deepened.

On difficult days, your own words can offer comfort, strength, and perspective. You are growing—just as your baby is.
