✨ Your ASRC Vice President / Delegate attended the AARC House of Delegates Congress Meeting this week to represent Alaska and provide licensure updates to AARC leadership. During that meeting, we were challenged to share with our communities: “Who are you? What are you? Why do you do it?”
Here is your ASRC VP / Delegate’s response:
“Who am I?
I am someone motivated, passionate, and determined to make a meaningful impact on my profession, my state, and the future of Respiratory Therapy.
What am I?
I am a Respiratory Therapist with over 14 years of experience, having worked in numerous facilities across multiple states. I’ve seen firsthand what our profession is capable of and I firmly believe there is no reason Respiratory Therapists in Alaska should not be practicing at the same level and capacity as our colleagues nationwide.
Why do I do it?
Because my lifelong goal has been to make a positive difference in the world. While my heart will always belong to pulmonary diagnostics, Respiratory Therapy offers countless avenues to serve patients and communities. Regardless of specialty, every RT deserves recognition, respect, and the ability to practice fully within their scope, just like any other medical profession.
And because of that, I will advocate relentlessly. I will mentor those rising behind me. And I will do everything within my power to help secure licensure for Alaska Respiratory Therapists. Our profession deserves it, our patients deserve it, and our future depends on it.”
💬 Now we ask you:
What is your why?
And what can you do to make a positive difference in our profession?
