A Personal Note from Heather â Why I Started Integrity Dental Hygiene Care
Several people have encouraged me to share a bit about myselfâbecause dental care is deeply personal, and so is the reason I started this journey.
I moved to Idaho at 15 and met the love of my life shortly after. We married young, when I was just 17. Although his grandmother had moved away after getting married, she was born and raised in Alaska, and her stories left a deep impression on him. So when he joined the U.S. Coast Guard after high school, we were thrilled when he was stationed in Kodiak, Alaska. We fell in loveâwith the state, the people, the landâand ended up spending 8 of his 20 years in the Coast Guard here.
Along the way, we raised four amazing kidsâthree sons and a daughterâand now we're blessed with two beautiful grandchildren. The moment my husband retired from the military, we made Alaska our forever home. I always say that Alaska gets in your blood. You might think youâll leave one day, but she always calls you back. Thatâs exactly what happened to us.
I started my own dental hygiene business because I felt disheartened by the direction healthcareâincluding dental careâseemed to be going. In some places, itâs becoming normal to cut corners, stretch the truth about treatment, or rush patients through just to fill the next chair. Not all practices are like that, but I never want to be put in a position where I have to compromise whatâs right for my patients.
Healthcare should be about honesty, integrity, and doing whatâs truly best for people. Thatâs why I chose the name Integrity Dental Hygiene Care. Itâs not just a business nameâitâs my promise. When you sit in my chair, youâll always receive the kind of care Iâd give to my own family: thorough, thoughtful, and truthful.
This is more than a profession to meâitâs a calling. And Iâm grateful that I get to do it in the state I love, for the people I care about.
