There has been alot of new faces around recently…. Welcome! Because of this, we thought we should reintroduce ourselves!

We are Zach and Becca Stone, owners of Kilo Collective! We have been married for close to a year, and are excited for our first baby coming this June. We both have a passion for health and wellness, and want to help as many people on that journey as we can. We founded our personal training studio because we believe in the power of 1:1 training, as well as small group training and the results that come with it!

About Zach: Zach has been in the health and fitness world for years, both competitively and as a trainer! He is in excellent in strength training, progressive overload, weight loss plans, and creating a great foundation!

About Becca: Becca has been a trainer for 10 years, and has also competed and been in the fitness world for years! She loves strength training, creating lifestyle changes for weight loss that last, and nutrition!

Let’s start with the basics. What is your metabolism in the first place?

To put it as simple as possible - it’s the process by which our body coverts food into energy. But how does this affect our weight? Your metabolism affects weight by determining how many calories your body burns at rest, and while being active. So, the faster your metabolism, the more calories you will burn throughout the day!

So the real question is, how do we get a faster metabolism? The answer isn’t the one you may think it is. Here are a few ways to help increase metabolism, and a few ways that actually hurt it!

âś… Eat more protein
âś… Eat more calories (high quality, nutrient dense foods) - often needs to be done in a restorative phase of eating, also known as reverse dieting!
✅ Build more muscle…this is a big one. Building more muscle leads to higher BMR, which is the calories your body burns at rest! This is done through strength training and progressive overload + the diet to fuel growth

❌ Skipping meals- skipping meals will cause your metabolism to slow down, so make sure you are eating your means + getting a protein packed breakfast!
❌ overdoing cardio, and under eating- this tends to burn more muscle than fat. And muscle is the key to a healthy metabolism! So switch out the treadmill today for some weights!
❌ Eating too much sugar and processed foods. Keep it clean, colorful, and protein packed!

The all-or-nothing mindset is keeping you stuck.

One “bad” meal doesn’t ruin your progress, just like one “perfect” meal doesn’t guarantee results. But if you keep swinging between extremes—strict dieting and binges—you’ll never build the consistency needed to see real change.

Instead of aiming for perfection, aim for progress. A balanced approach will always beat a cycle of restriction and overindulgence.

It’s so easy for us to only have one speed- all in, or all out. But what would your progress look like if you made small changes everyday that better set us up for success and the life we want?
Here are some small choices you could start with this week:
• Have a protein filled breakfast everyday
• Go for a 5 minute walk after each meal
• only drink 50oz of water a day? Great- let’s go for 64oz this week!

It doesn’t have to be complicated. Simple works!!
