I was doing all the things.
Trying to satisfy that need in me for something...
Something I couldn’t even name at the time.

I wasn’t falling apart.
I wasn’t in crisis.

“I almost gave up on the conversation—and the relationship.”

I remember sitting across the room from a family member; someone I loved dearly… and realizing we weren’t speaking the same language.

I wasn’t angry, but I felt

Disappointed
Frustrated
Heavy

I was heartbroken.
Because I was saying something I deeply meant—and it didn’t land.

I felt like this Loved One, who had known me for so long, didn’t really

Hear me
And it’s not like I wasn’t trying.

This wasn’t the first time.

I knew we were different, but in some ways it felt like the Wall of China was between us in understanding.

Ugh!

And honestly, I flipped between “What’s wrong with me?” and “What’s wrong with them?” lol! —> Have you been there, too?

Let me say this straight out - THERE IS NOTHING INHERENTLY WRONG WITH EITHER OF YOU.

Like me, at the time, you just haven’t learned the keys to being heard and understood.

You see, I later found out it wasn’t the words I was using—it was the way we each process the world.

That realization changed everything.
