Whether the sun's shining or the rain's falling, Humboldt County has plenty of ways to keep kids active and happy during the President’s Day break.

If it's nice out: ☀️ Explore the trails at Arcata Community Forest ☀️ Build sandcastles (or chase waves!) at Clam Beach ☀️ Visit the animals at Sequoia Park Zoo and do the Redwood Sky Walk ☀️Hit the playground at your neighborhood park

If it's a rainy day: 🌧️ Spend a few hours at the Redwood Discovery Museum in Eureka 🌧️ Check out the art at the Morris Graves Museum of Art in Eureka 🌧️ See what’s going on at your local library 🌧️ Check out Cal Poly Humboldt’s Natural History Museum

However your family spends the break, we hope it includes plenty of play, rest, and togetherness. That's what healthy living looks like!\

Early symptoms are often subtle, and your brain may compensate without you realizing anything is wrong. Watch for these signs:

• Blurry or fuzzy central vision
• Straight lines appearing wavy or distorted
• Difficulty reading, even with glasses
• Colors seeming less vivid
• Trouble recognizing faces
• A dim or empty spot in the center of your vision

These changes can happen gradually in one or both eyes. If you notice any of these symptoms—or if it's just been a while since your last eye exam—schedule a visit with your optometrist.👁️

Need lab work done? We make it easy.

Our laboratory is open Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Just walk in with your provider's order—no appointment needed.

Because we process most tests right here on site, results get back to you and your provider faster. No sending samples out of the county and waiting days for answers.

In and out, close to home. 🧪

If you haven’t seen a primary care provider in a while, you’re not alone.

Some people put it off because they’re worried about what they might hear. Others just haven’t been able to get an appointment — or haven’t had the energy to deal with it.

A routine visit can be a way to check in, not jump into anything drastic. Simple things like blood pressure and basic labs can catch concerns early, when options are often easier and more manageable.

Primary care is here at MRCH when you’re ready. And we have appointments available.

Some heart disease risk factors are out of our control—family history, age, or previous health conditions. But many are things we can influence:
• High blood pressure
• High cholesterol
• Smoking
• Diabetes
• Carrying extra weight
• Stress and limited physical activity

The good news? You don't have to tackle everything at once. Pick one area to focus on this month. If you're not sure where to start, your primary care provider can help you identify what matters most for your situation. 💙

We’re celebrating our phlebotomy team - the skilled professionals who make blood draws as quick and comfortable as possible. Thank you for your steady hands, kindness, and skill. We see you and we appreciate you!

Our lab team processes most tests right here on site, which means faster results for you and your provider. None of that happens without our phlebotomists, who are often the first step in getting answers about your health.🩸

Beautiful Newton P. Drury Parkway in Redwood National & State Parks is closed to vehicles on the first Saturday of every month until May 2. Safely explore on foot, or on your bike, skateboard, rollerblades, wheelchair or any other non-motorized vehicle.

Pack up the kids, the (leashed) dogs and enjoy the stunning trees. You might even see some elk along the way! Note dogs are not allowed on the trails for safety reasons, so keep them on the parkway.
