Do you have any unexplained body aches or other issues that you're taking meds for? Are you feeling fatigued and not sleeping well? Do you have a healthy gut? An unhealthy gut can have MANY symptoms. For example, most of you know our daughter was diagnosed with Celiac Disease (where your body thinks gluten is a invader and causes intestinal inflammation) in July, her whole undiagnosed life she had horrible leg pains almost every night, sometimes all night, she had abdominal pain daily, trouble sleeping, as she got older she (and I) noticed mind fog, just to name the main ones. Once she was diagnosed, I decided that I'm going to learn everything about this disease to help teach her how to cope with this the rest of her life, to protect her, and to help her feel better. I started reading a highly recommended book titled Celiac Disease for Dummies, and oh my gosh! That's when I was able to help diagnose her by learning what labs were needed done and that there are OVER 300 symptoms from Celiacs! OVER 300, for this 1 intestinal disease, and all of Emma's symptoms above were on that list. I also learned that CD (Celiacs Disease) is highly misdiagnosed, takes an average of 10 years to be properly diagnosed if ever, and the average age of being diagnosed was around 40. We are extremely blessed to have an amazing nurse practitioner who cared and listened to her and to my suggestions from this book. I couldn't imagine what symptoms our daughter would be experiencing and how she'd feel if she had gone undiagnosed for another 30 years. Point is even if you eat healthy and don't have any (or think you don't have any) gut issues, it doesn't mean that you actually have a healthy gut. Emma's first symptoms were not abdominal pain, which didn't show up until the last 3 years; it was her leg pains that was one of the first symptoms. There's a reason your stomach/ GI system is in the center of our body; it's connected to every other system of our bodies and controls their ability to function properly. Without a healthy gut, we can't absorb the nutrients we need from our foods or even absorb our medications correctly because of the inflammation in our gut. If we're taking medications to manage our joint pain, mind fog, anxiety/ depression, constipation, headaches, and more than how are we getting the full affect of them if our bodies can't absorb them properly.
