6 Years in the USA: A Journey of Challenges, resistance, resilience and victory!
Six years ago, I arrived in the United States for the first time, for an unconventional wedding... but life had other plans, and here I am, building a story I never imagined. It wasn’t easy. I faced days of uncertainty, language barriers, overwhelming homesickness, and, yes, the weight of racism that was sometimes subtle, other times cruel.
But each challenge was a lesson. I learned to reinvent myself, to rise stronger after each fall. I saw that prejudice doesn’t define me and that my identity is much greater than what people think of me.
I celebrate the small victories: the first job I got, the true friendships I made, the doors I managed to open with effort and courage. I found joy in the details of everyday life, in a smile, a gesture of solidarity, in the realization of a dream that seemed distant.
These six years are proof that resistance is an act of courage and growth is a daily decision. The path was long and, at times, lonely, but every step was worth it. Today, I’m stronger, wiser, and ready for whatever comes next.
Here, I’ve not only built a new life, but also a new version of myself, full of pride, gratitude, hope, and love!
