Eating clean while traveling is HARD!! Especially if you are traveling out of the country. Where we were, if you want to get a good variety of proteins and fruit you have to order from the larger island and have it sent over on a ferry and it takes 2 days to arrive.
As you may know from my past posts I follow medical medium pretty strictly - which means I try REALLY hard to avoid all dairy, gluten, eggs, pork, Canola oil, corn, MSG, and natural flavors….so my food options while eating out are pretty limited.
I packed a bunch or Lara bars, to get me through the travel days- and got some fresh fruit (apples and banana) at the airport to snack on. I also packed my wild blueberry powder to add to bananas for my morning smoothie. You can also get red dragon fruit powder.
*once you get to your location try and get to a grocery store. In my case I put in an order for delivery a few days before arriving on the island. I bought fresh fruit (organic when possible), a lot of lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, garlic, onion, potatoes, watermelon, other melons, apples, oranges, lemons, celery, papaya, and bananas. I also got canned sardines to add to my salads.
I was not able to make my usual morning celery juice 😥 but I still started my mornings with lemon water. My breakfast was usually a mini watermelon (melon is best eaten alone in the morning with no other food). A half hour later I had my morning smoothie (wild blueberry powder with 3 bananas and coconut water or regular water mixed in a blender).
Snacks were mostly apples and oranges or other fruits.
Lunch most days was a salad with lettuce/spinach, chopped celery, tomatoes, garlic, onions, apple chunks, carrots, sometimes I added sardines or avocado. Dressing was a sq**rt of orange juice.
Dinner was another similar salad or I made potato soup (a bunch of chopped up potatoes, 1/2 onion, paprika, and a little salt).
When eating out at a restaurant I ordered a Greek salad with lettuce tomato, olives, onion, and shrimp (made without dairy).
Since I eat very little meat and animal product I try to include a lot of leafy greens in my diet as according to medical medium it is the most bioavailable form of protein (especially spinach). If you don’t like leafy greens a great supplement would be spirulina from vimergy.
