UADA - Sharp County

UADA - Sharp County Each year Arkansas 4-H youth receive more than $80,000 in college scholarships at the state level for their 4-H work.

4-H is the youth development program conducted by the University of Arkansas, Division of Agriculture, Cooperative Extension Service. 4-H members can select from many activities in 82 project areas ranging from automotive to clothing to space camp. Adult leaders, trained by county Cooperative Extension Service Faculty, teach projects to children using the "learn -by-doing" method. 4-H teaches leadership, citizenship, and skills children will use through out their lives. Some scholarships are available at the county level. The mission of 4-H is to provide opportunities for youth to acquire knowledge, develop life skills, form attitudes, and practice behavior that will enable them to become self directing, productive, and contributing members of society. The Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service offers its programs to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, gender, age, disability, marital or veteran status, or any other legally protected status, and is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.

Have you ever wanted to judge a county fair? Or have you judged in the past but need a refresher on the rules?

Join us for a Fair Judging School on March 31st in Ash Flat, Arkansas at the Sharp County Fairgrounds. Cost is $10 which includes lunch. Call the Sharp County Extension office at 870-994-7363 to register.

We will be offering two classes on February 12th, 12-1pm and 5-6pm! This will be the same class at both times, so you do not need to sign up for both!

Livestock Team Introduction Meeting!

If you are interested in joining a 4-H livestock team to compete in county, district, and state events, we will be having an introductory meeting on Monday, February 9th at the Sharp County Courthouse at 5:30pm.
We will be discussing livestock skill-a-thon, livestock judging, and livestock quiz bowl competitions.
This is for 4-H members ages 8 and up.

If you think you might be interested in any of these competitions, this would be the perfect time to come and ask all of your questions! If you're unable to attend, reach out to the Extension Office and we can get you all of the information!
