Saw this the other day and thought it was worth a post. Whether or not you play football, this video really explains game speed and how athletes effectively (or not) transition to playing at a higher level.
Some thoughts 🏃
-Game speed is different across different positions, sports, and levels of play.
- Game speed isn’t only about moving quickly from A to B, it’s about recognition and making the right decision at the right time.
- A lot of the skills that govern recognition and reactivity come from practice and preparation (scout reps, film study, field/turf drills etc.) The works gotta be put in, even for the best of the best.
- Knowing your coaches scheme for yourself and your teammates, the tendencies of the other team, and what to do if you find yourself lost on the field of play can make all the different in making plays at a higher level.
