Traditional Islamic Healing & Medicine (TIHM) is the science of the relationship of the Spirit to the soul, and the soul to the physical body –the spiritual realities to the world of forms. The art of TIHM is the skillful application of this knowledge to the healing of the BodyMindSoul. TIHM is based upon the Oneness of Reality (tawḥīd) that recognizes the human BodyMindSoul as a seamless whole and is therefore concerned with the totality of the human experience. The knowledge that forms TIHM was revealed by God through the prophets, of which there are 124,000 according to the Holy Qur’ān, and preserved in the form of the numerous scriptures and prophetic sayings since the beginning of time. This knowledge was revealed through the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ as the Generous Qur’ān and Noble Hadith. This group is for anyone interested in the subject. I will post details about seminars and workshops I will be giving in the US and abroad, as well as the TIHM program that will be launched by the summer of 2011. Part 1 of the program teaches how to ground spiritual practice into the physical body and extend this awareness into one’s life in the world. As a result, one can realize a profound level of spiritual and physical health and well-being. Thus, Part 1 is for spiritually-inclined persons of all persuasions, regardless of religious affiliation or an interest or current practice in a healthcare discipline. Part 2 of the program is for all those who have completed Part 1 and would like to extend their knowledge and skills into their practice of a healthcare discipline, or simply to treat loved-ones. This program will initially offer certification and then advance into a professional degree. Our long-term objective is to establish a college of TIHM to train the next generation of ḥakīms or healer-physicians. I look forward to meeting all who are interested in the subject, including those who would like to attend presentations, workshops, enroll in the program, and/or assist in organizing any of these events. If you gather students and find a venue, I will travel and teach. The groups that enroll in the program will form a hub where the entire program will be taught to completion, God-willing. The first wave of committed students will become teaching assistants and then graduate into teachers. My goal is to have several teaching hubs (west coast, east coast, Canada, Middle East, etc.). If you build it, I (we) will come, as long as God gives me strength. As-salaam ‘alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu.
