Did I almost pass out? Yes, yes I did. But you see, it's worth it. 2yrs ago when we did my inner age was 9.5yrs younger than my biological age!! Woot!

We'll see what happens this time in a few days (that covid slide may get me), but doing Inside Tracker gives you so much valuable information for your health status now and actual ways to improve it for the future. Who doesn't want to feel younger from the inside out?!

As a bonus, you can use your HSA ❤ to pay for it. When I took my previous results to my Dr. she was blown away by how detailed it is... and it's not just trying to help you be "normal" but to be optimal! Again, who doesn't want that superhero status?!

Go do it! Report back. You're welcome 😊

It's been exactly a year since the last week this guy was able to attend school 5 days a week...and I know many of you identify. While he wasn't pumped for these pictures at first, he can't hold in his joy and excitement for long. Gotcha, kiddo!
Go conquer this last 3mo of kindergarten, sweet boy! Prayers for safe and healthy staff, kiddos, and families so we can put covid behind us. @ Asheville, North Carolina

February, I thank you for your many lessons. Things like:
* Man, time is crazy. The distance between newborn and 6yrs old is so long and so short. The days are long but the years are short.
*I love to bake. But making treats is even more fun when there are family, friends, and neighbors to share them with.
*Your kiddos will surprise you...for instance, I was told today he is my son but first he is God's son, so when I tell him to do something he'll see if God agrees first.
*Bubbles are the only calorie worth drinking.
Can't wait to see what March has in store. I hope a vaccination is hidden inside like a Cadbury Easter egg center. 🤞 @ Asheville, North Carolina

6yrs ago at 1:08am I woke up thinking it was just your usual pregnancy potty trip. Within 20mins, I knew something was about to go down.
Hayden was born 5hrs later.
Tomorrow I'll be sharing my story on betterthangoodblog.com

Was I thrilled this bo**er woke me up at 5:30 even though my alarm goes off at 5:40? No.
Did I love being poked, prodded, and told "look at me mommy" for nearly an hour until his clock turned green? Also a No.
But he and I do this thing. I say, "You're my best Thompson." He grins big and says, "You're my best Mommy." And in that moment of a hug, cuddle and kiss, everything in my cup is overflowing. The trade off of starting my day with quiet time for yoga, prayer, and reading in exchange for stolen moments with my baby who is no longer a baby, well, that's magic.
You know, magic mixed in with demands for breakfast he'll only half eat. Let's be realistic.

I'm posting this as proof they aren't always crying and screaming. It's been a rough week at our house. So many tears. So much screaming. So much back talk.
Hayden doesn't do well with virtual school. He misses the classroom and it's structure. He's been robbed of the amazement kindergarten is meant to be. I'm sad. I'm angry. And so is he. This pandemic has stolen things none of us will get back. His district announced yesterday they'll continue being virtual until at least February 15th. While this is what's best and safest, it doesn't make it easier.
Luckily, I've been learning about Job. It's helping me to TRY to see the purpose and good in this. I can both settle into how much this sucks AND search for the silver lining. It doesn't have to be one or the other. We all are experiencing this in different ways and to disregard or invalidate how someone else is making it through...well, that isn't love.
So, my friends, cry. Scream. Slam the door. Eat the cake. Find the silver lining. Sit in the pile of poo we are in. Go for a run. Drink the wine. Whatever helps you to get through today knowing the sun is still coming up and going down each day. Maybe, like in this picture, that is the beauty we can find.
Hugs to every single one of you out there. Your experience and emotions are valid.

My kids can be picky rascals at times. If they don't like the look of something, then forget it. I keep trying though and they get veggies, fruit, and nuts (because they're SO good for us and they can't have them at school) offered at every meal.
Keep trying. That's the name of the game. This shepherd's pie is delicious and sure, they turned their noses up at it, but our 2 bite rule exposes their taste buds to flavor profiles they may end up enjoying. Last night, they ate it all. Tonight, barely the 2 bites. It's fine. They got some nutrition and they were exposed to the magic of oregano and thyme.
Keep trying. One day, in the blink of an eye, I'll have to make 2 of these at a time because they'll both eat so much. For now, I'll enjoy the leftovers...because you know, a lot of things taste even better the 2nd day after the flavors meld even more.
Keep trying. @ Asheville, North Carolina

Have you ever had something and not known what to do with it?!

This cute gnome Santa has been hung up for several years because he's so adorable. However, those tiny pockets have always stumped me. Toys won't fit in there. Candy? No, the kids get the chocolate advent calendars too....

It hit me! Make it family activity based! The kids are excited, we get to do fun things as a family...largely without the TV involved...it's great! Yesterday's was a video chat with my parents and today's you see in pic #2.

Let me know if you want ideas. Happy to share!

Affirmations… are you doing them? The words we use to describe ourselves whether physically, mentally, or emotionally matter. They impact us at our core. We become what we think.
We spend so much time mindlessly going from one activity to the next. Taking the kids to school, getting groceries, heading to the park, etc. it all takes precious time. What if we can take back those pockets of time to think about ourselves and children with more positivity and love? Would it change us?
I think it is worth a shot. Back in the spring, right before quarantine, we started doing the affirmation, “I am kind” with the boys. Now, we’ve added onto it and every day on the way to school/daycare, one of the boys leads us in our daily affirmations. We repeat them and we talk about them. How can you be kind today? What can you do when you have a difficult task ahead? Why is being a learner important? The questions and conversations are endless.
These conversations start our day on a positive note. And talking about them also helps us to set intentions for the day. When they share with us at dinner something they did to be kind, a time they tried hard when something was difficult, or something they learned, it makes our hearts swell.
Do you have affirmations with your kiddos? If not, are you willing to try? What are the affirmations you use? (feel free to use ours)
Tag me or comment and let me know your thoughts or experiences. I can’t wait to hear how you are fostering self-love within yourself and/or your kiddos.

The lego sculptures are incredible and will only be there about 1 more week. Be sure to check them out. I would recommend getting there early as after 10 there appears to be a larger crowd and line.
We hiked trails, saw some of the lego exhibits and even had Dinah along to sniff the fresh mountain air!
Go today! Ok, go tomorrow when they first open...it's busy by now :)

Eating a lot more vegetarian meals these days. This is leftovers of eggplant parm over zucchini noodles and some red cabbage. It was so yummy and satisfying!
Did you know I was a pescatarian for like 5yrs before starting to date my husband? He was paleo at the time. I don't think either of those would work for us longterm at this stage, but getting those veggies in sure helps the way I feel.
Disregard the Chipotle I devoured for dinner, but it was vegetarian. That doesn't necessarily mean healthy, folks.
