This is not a support group. We do not gather to complain or compare; to fix or educate; to blame or reassure. We gather to sit in the mud together; to climb into whatever discomfort lays beneath the surface of the masks we so often wear. With the soft glow of a heart fire built strategically with a language that we all share - we gather to stoke a sense of safety in connection, so that we may be kept warm through dark times.

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, many beloved Asheville and Buncombe County businesses have been deeply affected by the storm. While the community comes together to rebuild, you can lend a helping hand from afar by shopping at these businesses' online stores or contributing to fundraising efforts.

Local, independent businesses are the heart of Asheville, home to growers who are artists and artists whose work grows. ANNOUNCEMENT: I am safe and situated in TN for the time being - thanks to an intuitive, proactive friend; who offered impromptu evacuation yesterday. For those that do not know me well, my social work career began in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina; as an volunteer. While I am eager to return to the city of where plenty of my community members remain in compromised positions, I am devoted to organizing and mobilizing resources - in the meantime; and with direct, albeit limited access to people on the ground.

Follow my story on FB or IG for updates and insight, including places to find and to donate resources to those most impacted by this unprecedented natural disaster? As Margaret Mead says, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it's the only thing that ever has!"
