Testimonial Tuesday! Celebrating one of my first successes within private practice last fall 🤩

C participated in therapy 3 times a week to target aphasia and higher level cognitive deficits. With language, memory, and organizational supports in place, C was able to return to part time work as an independent contractor in just 3 months!

🧠 April is Parkinson's Disease Awareness Month! Let's shed light on the vital role of dopamine in our brains and its connection to Parkinson's. Dopamine, a neurotransmitter, regulates movement, emotion, and cognition. In Parkinson's, there's a decline in dopamine-producing cells, leading to tremors, stiffness, and changes in cognition. Let's support research, spread awareness, and offer compassion to those affected.

We will be out at Sandy Creek Park this Saturday supporting the Outpace PD 5K run and 1 mile walk. Online registration is closed, but you can still sign up on race day! Proceeds will go to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Another day, another opportunity for community outreach! We attended the Athens-Clarke County Health Fair offered to all employees and retirees of ACC gov.

We shared information on normal aging vs. cognitive decline, cognitive wellness tips, and everyday memory strategies! 🧠🗣

Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude and reflection.

Following a stroke or brain injury, survivors and their care partners experience a variety of complex emotions as they navigate their new reality.

Grateful for the ability to speak, but also grieving their loved one's true voice.

Grateful for the ability to eat, but also grieving the ability to prepare a meal for their loved ones.

Grateful to be alive, but grieving their previous identity.

Today I am thankful for the strength and resilience of my clients and their care partners.

World Stroke Day was created to improve public awareness and understanding of stroke with a focus on stroke prevention, symptom awareness and the needs of stroke survivors.

There is a new acronym to know the signs of a stroke: BE FAST⠀

B = balance loss 🚶‍♀️
E = eyesight changes 👀

F = face droop 👱‍♂️⠀
A = arm weakness 💪🏼 ⠀
S = speech difficulty 🗣⠀
T = time to go to the hospital 🏥 ⠀
