𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗼𝗳?⁠

today i'm letting go of 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯. i have this tendency to plan everything out and have the whole picture in mind before i start. it's partly (aka mostly) the perfectionist within me.⁠

i'm letting that go. i still fully believe it's important to think things through - but that paralysis by analysis is just not okay. ⁠

sometimes it really is okay to trust my gut instinct. and there will be times where i make a decision that doesn't pan out 😬⁠

for that, i'm grateful for my community who i trust and know will love me through it 😊⁠

as for 2023, take a deep breath and get ready 😉

HEALTH 👉🏾 the condition of our mind or our physical bodies. honestly, i believe our mental health is critical to our physical health - they work together

sooo, what does each type look like in health?

I believe we discover this state of being by letting go of the chase to be these things and engaging with radical acceptance of our human experience.

we achieve health when we stop chasing it with the harshest energies of our type. so I, as a type 1, will not achieve serenity by engaging with the rigidness or criticalness of my 1 telling me to be serene. Instead, it comes from accepting my human experience as is - and that I won’t be perfect.

and yess…this in itself is HARD (it’s why we get help in our journeys)

so what is it for each type?

When we first started, the mission around here was to use our enneagram type to get healthier. While this is still the mission, the words I use today are different: honor our type to free ourselves as we create the desired state of wellbeing across the dimensions of health.

Words matter.

And I believe as you join this space that it is critical for you to define health for yourself.

What is health?

I thought I needed to rebrand so that I was clear. Then I realized that it’s not I that needs to shift, but instead it’s the definitions we give to things that need to shift.

So friends, here we are. If you’re here expecting content related to your physical health - you’ll get that. If you’re here expecting content related to other areas of health - welcome.

You’ll get a dose of emotional, social, intellectual, financial, occupational, and spiritual health sprinkled in as well. Because ALL those areas of our lives matter.

And quite honestly, I don’t know how to support you in your holistic journey without honoring the role each of those areas play in your life.

Take a seat and stay a while. Because I’m clear and I’m on a mission.

at least once a week (if not more), i'm in the middle of a something when i have an epiphany that i just have to share with y'all.

sometimes those thought end up in stories, but mostly it ruminates in my brain.

it doesn't always fit an enneagram or health bucket (or just way too long to flesh out on here). And my one-ness needed it to have a home. how do i share all my mini-moments of ah-ha with people? so i sat with it.

then, in a series of very fortunate events, the thursday thoughts newsletter was born.

ya’ll. being a mompreneur is no joke! but i love it. and it’s been sooo healing. ways my business has healed me:

🌿 i prioritize me like never before. you can’t lead others where you aren’t willing to go yourself. that’s a quote from someone else, but it truly resonates with me. since i’ve been able to fully lean into my journey, i can empathize and support others as they lean into theirs.

🌿 i’m surprisingly creative. being trapped in a world where i’m just trying to do the right thing stunted my ability to be creative and think outside the box. i’m still unraveling those parts of me and as i do, i realize a creativity within me that i didn’t know existed. it’s been so beautiful to let it live out loud in my life.

🌿 i’m trusting and writing my own narrative. lots of rewrites along the way. freedom and trusting my instincts just were not a thing. i didn’t know that i could trust me the way that i have been, and in doing so write a story and live a life so connected to my needs and desires.

each season of my business has helped me to understand me deeper, love me better, and dump a whole lotta grace on my life and soul.

my brain is BOLD.

but i dialed her back and asked "good enough for what?"
all of it. all the things you've chosen to juggle.

and then i took a moment to reflect and think about what i signed up for and what i stumbled across and allowed to take up space in my life.

i signed up to be a momma.
i stumbled across enneagram coaching.
both are HUGE parts of my heart and life.

but i question my worthiness for both constantly.
correction: i question my worthiness often. period.
it doesn't matter the "what."

recently, I've just sat and questioned. i'm so so curious about my journey. what i'm doing. what i want. how i'm approaching it all.

in the past, my approach would be to make a decision and execute. and i am a BOSS in task ex*****on.

but now I sit with things. i'm slower to execute because i spend more time exploring. it's different. it's weird. but it's not wrong (although there's a very real part of me that wants to say it's not the right way).

this is my brain these days. just sitting with the questions. marinating on what comes next...and then Maleah starts to talk and my brain snaps to her and i get to bask in my role as a mom.

that question "are you good enough" is the question that follows me. it comes up more than i'd like. i cognitively know the answer is a resounding YES. but the rest of me hasn't fully caught up to believe it in all the ways in all my days.

that's okay.

i cognitively tell myself yup, yup you are. then i check in and ask why i don't feel like i am. and remind myself of some very real truths.

not a good enough momma? really myrna? because you literally are so committed to being just that by literally listening to your girls, anticipating their needs, and doing what needs to be done in service to them.

and then it hit me. if i'm asking the question, i just might be. because i care enough to even ask.

and then i wonder: what does good enough mean anyway?

Currently I’m even more obsessed with being a to Mia and Maleah! I have two girls, with the youngest being a newbie…a whole 2.5 weeks old! The other gem who made me a mommy celebrates her 4th birthday this Saturday😍

i know what it's like to be in that position of feeling like something needs to change. Like⁠⁠
-you're out of control with food⁠⁠
-you have no idea what to feed the kiddos⁠⁠
-your relationship with food needs healing⁠⁠
-everything feels overwhelming and messy⁠ (and it's affecting your biz)⁠⁠

Are you feeling confused by all the things you’re trying to get done in a day? Breakfast in bellies? Sweet note in lunch boxes? Everyone bathed and fed? On buses or (navigating tantrums) getting them in the car to get to school? Serving clients, figuring out lunch, forgetting lunch, grabbing a snack, getting kids home & settled, figuring out dinner…

Anyone else just a bit tired reading that? But also, when we’re not careful: hello mompreneur life.

The self-forgetting, the exhaustion, and the relentless pursuit to fulfill dreams - both at home and in biz.

first awaken to the situation: what’s the problem at hand? What isn’t working?

Then dive in and determine your patterns, self reflect, self observe and deepen our understanding of self.

Then decide: What are we going to do with the noticing? What’s going to be different now?

The point of this process is to ADD (awaken, determine, decide) your health so you can fill your life with intention, presence, connection, and joy.

And you can do this without going out and buying all the self-help books, courses, or downloading all the freebies.

I remember when my client circled her dream of pivoting her business for a year. Then we chatted and in one session she moved from launching in another 4 months to launching her program in 2 weeks.

She was STUCK in her patterns of misaligned boundaries, self-limiting beliefs, and relatable: fear. But she made a decision that she wasn't going to remain stuck. She decided she wanted her ideal life. And circling that dream by planning all the details wasn't getting her there. Launching, putting herself out there, and trusting the process has led to freedom to dream bigger and OWNING her dreams!

notice when you're being self-critical. whenever you’re feeling bad about something, think about what narrative you're telling yourself. Be mindful of what you're saying to yourself. what words do you actually use? are there specific phrases that keep coming up (i.e. - you're not good enough, you're not special enough, you are incompetent, etc). what's the tone? get to know this inner critic well, and be mindful of when it is active.

Make an active effort to soften the self-critical voice with compassion. Don't give a harsh tone to a harsh critic. instead, compassionately thank or honor the intentions of your critic. often your critic is trying to help you achieve something in some way, honor it and soften its voice (I know you're trying to make sure I get this project done well, but you're causing me stress by pushing me to get it done right this second when i still have 2 more days. I can rest for a moment.)

Reframe the observations made by your inner critic. Identify your critic's motives and reframe it the way a close, compassionate friend would say it.
