Am I Really Angry? – Curriculum Description

Am I Really Angry? is a structured, evidence-informed anger education and behavior modification curriculum designed to help participants understand the true sources of anger and develop practical skills to manage emotional responses in healthy, productive ways. Rather than focusing solely on anger as the problem, the curriculum guides participants to explore underlying emotions such as fear, frustration, hurt, and unmet needs that often present as anger.

The program is delivered in five interactive sessions, each two hours in length, and is appropriate for adults, young adults, and transitional-age youth in community, educational, workplace, and court-referred settings. Each session combines education, guided discussion, self-reflection, and skill-building exercises to support real-world application.

Across the five sessions, participants will:
• Increase emotional awareness and emotional intelligence
• Identify personal anger triggers and warning signs
• Understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors
• Learn and practice anger regulation techniques, including grounding, breathing, and cognitive time-out strategies
