This is Mr. Charles “Coot” Willis. He grew up in Fairfield, AL and was good friends with Willie Mays. ⚾️ He played professional baseball in the Negro Leagues for the Birmingham Black Barons & attended Miles College. In the 90s, he served as assistant principal and Drivers Ed instructor at Jackson-Olin High School in Birmingham. 💚💛 He also served as mayor of Fairfield from 2002-2004 after Larry Langford. Why am I telling you all of this??? 🚗 Because I sat in a car in 10th grade being taught how to drive by an absolute legend and I had no idea. 🫡 Thank you Mr Willis

Mt. Vernon, WA has become the first recipient of a federal loan to build a multi-use transit-oriented development. The city received $26.8 million in low-cost financing through U.S. Department of Transportation's Build America Bureau for a $53 million development that includes a library, community center, commercial kitchen and EV chargers. The half-block-long project is a short walk from the Skagit Station, a bus, rail and commuter hub 60 miles north of Seattle.
