Meanwhile, other states have burn bans in place, like North Carolina and South Carolina.

As the risk of wildfires grows, taking these steps can keep you and your family safe:

1) Create a wildfire evacuation plan and know multiple ways out.
2) Pack a go-bag with essentials like water, medications and important documents.
3) Sign up for local emergency alerts and warnings.
4) Clear dry leaves and debris from around your home.
5) Avoid outdoor burning and activities that can spark fires.
