 We travel and communicate with dozens of rural hospitals per month in all parts of the United States and they all agree with our philosophy. For decades, Radiology has been classified into the “ancillary” service line, which is the furthest from the truth, these are doctors that are humans that are interpreting cases for patients and many times for life or death. Because of the shortage, the flaws were exposed caused by the private equity infusion into the practice of Radiology. Every single byte of patient care comes through the radiology department and the interpreting by radiologists. There needs to be a renewed investment by the Hospital into not just being a basic Radiology service, however into providing and focused on delivering the highest level of Radiology care focused on communication, accuracy, and relationships built with clinical physicians. As patients , it’s important to understand what’s occurring in the industry.
